2013 Houston Cougars Football Team
The 2013 Houston Cougars football team represented the University of Houston in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. It was the 68th year of season play for Houston. The season marked the first for the Cougars as a member of the American Athletic Conference. Due to construction of the new TDECU Stadium during the 2013 season, the team played its home games at other locations in Houston. The season featured the Cougars’ continued Bayou Bucket Classic rivalry with the Rice Owls. The game again became a battle due to the departure from Conference USA for the Cougars following the 2012 season. The previous time the two teams met as non-conference foes was during the 2004 season when the Rice Owls was a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Tony Levine
Tony Levine (born October 28, 1972) is a former American football coach who last coached at Purdue as the special teams coordinator, co-offensive coordinator, and tight ends coach. He is a former head coach for the Houston Cougars football team. Levine now owns and operates a Chick-fil-A restaurant in the Houston suburb of Missouri City, Texas. A walk-on wide receiver for the Minnesota Golden Gophers under Jim Wacker, Levine became a three-year starter and was twice named to the Academic All-Big Ten team. After his graduation from Minnesota, Levine played arena football for the Minnesota Fighting Pike and started his own sports marketing company (Levine Marketing Group) in 1996. Before coming to Houston, the St. Paul native coached at Texas State, Auburn, Louisiana Tech, Louisville and the NFL's Carolina Panthers. Travis Bush
Travis Bush is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the first head football coach at UTRGV. Previously, he was the head football coach and athletic director at Canyon High School, a position he held from 2021 to 2022. Before that, he was the head football coach and athletic director at Seguin High School from 2016 to 2020 and was the offensive coordinator for the University of Houston under head coach Tony Levine. While originally hired onto Levine's staff as running backs coach, Bush was promoted to the offensive coordinator position when his predecessor Mike Nesbitt resigned following Houston's first game of the 2012 season. Zachary High School
Zachary High School is a public high school located in Zachary, Louisiana, United States. It is a part of the Zachary Community School Board. History Zachary High School was established in 1912. It was segregated. The Rosenwald Fund helped establish a school for African Americans, Zacahry Colored School, in 1934, but there was no public high school open to African Americans in Zachary until 1954. Zachary High School desegregated in the 1970s. Zachary High School was within the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. In 2002, Zachary High School became part of the Zachary Community School District. Since the break from East Baton Rouge Parish, the Zachary High School campus has been renovated. Demarcus Ayers (born July 7, 1994) is a former American football and Canadian football wide receiver. He played college football at Houston, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. College career Ayers was Houston's starting kick returner in his freshman season and was named to the 2013 AAC First-team as a kick returner. He had 37 returns for 1,021 yards, breaking a Houston freshman record. In 2014, in his sophomore season, he had 33 receptions for 335 yards and two touchdowns at receiver. Markeith Ambles
Markeith Ambles (born November 26, 1991) is an American professional gridiron football wide receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Houston. College career Ambles began his college career at USC in 2010. He was suspended in October 2010 due to late arrivals to team functions. After being dismissed from the team in November, he rejoined the team in January 2011. Ambles withdrew from USC in August 2011 after being declared academically ineligible.
