2013 Golden Spin Of Zagreb
The Golden Spin of Zagreb () is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU), organized and hosted by the Croatian Skating Federation () and held in Zagreb, Croatia. The competition debuted in 1973, and when the ISU launched the ISU Challenger Series in 2014, the Golden Spin of Zagreb was one of the inaugural competitions. It has been a Challenger Series event ever since, except for 2020, when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Medals are awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance; and when the event is part of the Challenger Series, skaters earn ISU World Standing points based on their results. ISU Challenger Series
The ISU Challenger Series is a series of international figure skating competitions. Established by the International Skating Union in the 2014–15 figure skating season, 2014–15 season, it is a group of senior-level events ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Each event consists of at least three disciplines out of four (Single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), and is required to take place between August 1 and December 15. The ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating is a separate competition series in the discipline of synchronized skating. History The ISU Council decided to create the series at its February 2014 meeting. Eleven competitions were selected in June 2014. The Triglav Trophy dropped out by October 10, 2014, resulting in a series composed of ten events. Ioulia Chtchetinina (, , ; born 24 December 1995) is a Russian-Swiss pair skater who currently competes for Poland with Michał Woźniak. Together, they are the Four Nationals Figure Skating Championships, 2025 Four National champions, the 2024 Four Nationals Figure Skating Championships, 2024 Four National silver medalists, two-time Polish Figure Skating Championships, Polish national champions (2024–25), and the 2024 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb champions. Norbert Schramm
Norbert Schramm (born April 7, 1960) is a German former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time European champion, a two-time World silver medalist, and a three-time German national champion. Skating career Schramm began skating at age six. He was coached by Erich Zeller at the national center in Oberstdorf, and skated for the EC Oberstdorf club representing West Germany. Amongst his team members were Rudi Cerne and Heiko Fischer. Along with three national titles, Schramm won gold twice at the European Championships and silver twice at the World Championships. He also attracted media attention for his red costumes, his choreography and spontaneous creativity on ice, as well as for creating new spins and reinventing old forgotten spins. Scott Hamilton (figure Skater)
Scott Scovell Hamilton (born August 28, 1958) is a retired American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist. He won a gold medal in the 1984 Winter Olympics, four consecutive World Championships (1981–84) and four consecutive U.S. championships (1981–84). His signature move, the backflip, a feat few other figure skaters could perform at the time, is against U.S. Figure Skating and Olympic competition rules. Yet, he would include it in his exhibition routines as an amateur to please the crowd. Later, he also used the backflip in his professional competition routines. Miljan Begović (born 19 May 1964) is a Croatian former competitive figure skater. He represented Yugoslavia at the Figure skating at the 1984 Winter Olympics, 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo and finished 21st. Begović was also selected for six World Championships (best result: 16th in 1983 World Figure Skating Championships, 1983) and five European Championships (best result: 14th in 1983 European Figure Skating Championships, 1983 and 1984 European Figure Skating Championships, 1984). Skate Canada (Canadian French: ''Patinage Canada'', lit. "Skating Canada") is the national governing body for figure skating in Canada, recognized by the International Skating Union and the Canadian Olympic Committee. James "Jimmie" Santee is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 1981 Golden Spin of Zagreb champion, 1982 Ennia Challenge Cup silver medalist, and 1983 Prague Skate silver medalist. Didier Gailhaguet (born 22 August 1953) is a French former figure skater, coach and official. He served as the president of the Fédération française des sports de glace (FFSG) from 1998 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2020. He was suspended each time because of related scandals. At the peak of his power, he was one of figure skating's most influential and controversial officials, dubbed the "little Napoleon." Zdeněk Pazdírek (born 13 December 1953) is a former competitive figure skater who represented Czechoslovakia. Sergey Volkov (figure Skater)
Sergey Nikolayevich Volkov (; 19 April 1949 – 31 August 1990) was a Soviet figure skater. He won the 1975 World title and placed second in 1974. Personal life Volkov was born on 19 April 1949 in Moscow. He was the brother of Elena Buriak, an international skating referee. With his first wife, Lyudmila, he had a son, Aleksandr, and with his second wife, Oksana, he had twin daughters, Ekaterina and Anastasia. He died from stomach cancer on 31 August 1990 in Kharkiv and was buried in Kuntsevo Cemetery in Moscow. Volkov dreamed of becoming a pilot and tried twice to enter the flight academy in Rostov-on-Don. He failed the medical test both times due to his soft and weak knees and ankles, which would fail upon landing after a parachute jump.
