The 2013 Diamond Head Classic was a mid-season eight-team college basketball tournament played on December 22, 23, and 25 at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was the fifth annual Diamond Head Classic tournament and was part of the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. No. 14-ranked Iowa State defeated Boise State 70–66 to win the tournament championship. DeAndre Kane was named the tournament's MVP. Georges Niang
Georges Niang (born June 17, 1993), nicknamed "The Minivan", is a Senegalese-American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was an All-American college player for Iowa State University. High school career A three-year starter and two-year team captain, Niang capped off his career as one of the greatest players in The Tilton School history, amassing a school-record 2,372 points. Anthony Drmic (born 25 February 1992) is an Australian professional basketball player who last played for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for the Boise State Broncos and is their second all-time leading scorer. He led Boise State to two NCAA Tournaments during his 5 years with the Broncos. 2013–14 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors basketball team represented the University of Hawaii at Manoa during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rainbow Warriors, led by fourth year head coach Gib Arnold, played their home games at the Stan Sheriff Center as members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 20–11, 9–7 in Big West play to finish in fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big West Conference Tournament to Cal State Northridge. Despite having 20 wins, they did not participate in a postseason tournament. In October 2014, Hawaii fired head coach Gib Arnold and assistant coach Brandyn Akana, due to an NCAA investigation. The 2013–14 Saint Mary's Gaels men's basketball team represented Saint Mary's College of California during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. DeAndre Kane (born June 10, 1989) is an American-born naturalized Hungarian professional basketball player for Grindavík in the Úrvalsdeild karla. Fredrick Kristian Hoiberg (born October 15, 1972) is an American college basketball coach and former player. He has served as the men's head basketball coach at the University of Nebraska since 2019. Hoiberg grew up in Ames, Iowa, and played college basketball at Iowa State University in Ames where he earned the nickname "The Mayor". He was drafted into the National Basketball Association (NBA) where, over his ten year career, he played for the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
