2013 Asian Formula Renault Series
2013 Asian Formula Renault Series (aka AFR Series) is the 14th season since its being created by FRD back in 2000. The Series bases the races in Zhuhai International Circuit as 4 rounds of races to be held there. For 3 of them, AFR joined Pan Delta Racing Festival and for the season finale, it will be a support race of the Zhuhai 500 km Endurance Race. Moreover, the AFR series will return to Shanghai for this season as the series holds a round of races on May 1–2 at Shanghai International Circuit. This year's AFR Series will see drivers to be divided in 3 categories – International, Asian and Masters Class. The International Class will include drivers who are the front runners of previous AFR seasons or other national races. Asian Class will consist of the up-and-coming Asian drivers. Formula Racing Development Limited or FRD Motorsports (FRD) is a motorsport promoter headquartered in Hong Kong, China which was founded in 1997. It has been the organiser and promoter of several Asian and China based championships, such as Asian Formula Renault Championship, China Formula Campus Championship, Clio Cup China Series, and Asia GT Race Series. It also conducts racing schools, driving schools, corporate programs, car events and even an annual celebrity race. Yat Shing "Sunny" Wong (:王日昇, born 29 July 1978) is a Hong Kong racing driver currently competing in the TCR Asia Series. Having previously competed in the China Touring Car Championship, Asian Touring Car Series, Hong Kong Touring Car Championship and Asian Formula Renault Series amongst others. Racing career Wong began his career in 2009 in China Formula Campus. In 2010 he switched to the Asian Formula Renault Series, finishing 6th in the standings in 2013. Chao Yin "Neric" Wei (born 21 March 1981) is a Chinese racing driver Formally competing in the TCR International Series and TCR Asia Series. Having previously competed in the Asian Le Mans Series Sprint Cup, Asian Formula Renault Series and Lotus Interport Cup Series amongst others. Zhuhai International Circuit
Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) (simplified Chinese: 珠海国际赛车场; traditional Chinese: ) is located at Jin Ding town in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. Motorsport started in Zhuhai when it hosted a race on its street circuit in 1993. Racing continued there until 1996 when the motor racing circuit was constructed and became China's first permanent motor race track with Formula One in mind. The circuit was designed by Australian company Kinhill Engineers Pty Ltd, the same group which created the Formula One circuit in Adelaide. The project manager for the project was Michael McDonough. The first international race held at the circuit was the BPR Global GT Series.
