The 2012 Girabola was the 34th season of top-tier football in Angola. It ran from 3 March to 4 November 2012 and involved 16 teams, the bottom three of which were relegated to 2013 Segundona. Girabola
Girabola, or ''Campeonato Nacional de Futebol de Séniores Masculinos'', is the top division of Angolan association football, football. It is organized by the Angolan Football Federation. The term "Girabola" () is a creation of the nationalist, radio broadcaster and sports reporter Rui Carvalho, in 1972, at a time when the Angolan championship was still officially called "Campeonato do Estado Ultramarino de Angola". The name "Girabola" differentiated the competition from the other overseas provinces and was a subtle form of anti-colonial protest. The league winner and runner-up qualify for the CAF Champions League. History The competition is the successor to the "Campeonato do Estado Ultramarino de Angola". Between 1975 and 1979, this competition did not take place. Atlético Sport Aviação, best known as ASA, was a association football, football club from Luanda, Angola. The club was founded in 1953 by a group of workers from TAAG's predecessor DTA. Mr. Jacinto Medina was the first chairman. Before Angola's independence, the club was known as Atlético Sport Aviação . After independence, it was called Desportivo da TAAG, named after its major sponsor, the TAAG Angola Airlines, Angolan Airlines. In 1992, the club's name was reverted to its original ''ASA''. Alfredo Kulembe Ribeiro (born 27 March 1990), known as Fredy, is an Angolan professional Association football, footballer who plays as a Winger (association football), winger for Süper Lig club Bodrum F.K., Bodrum. He achieved totals of 108 games and 11 goals in Portugal's Primeira Liga with C.F. Os Belenenses, Belenenses and B-SAD, while winning the Segunda Liga with the former in 2012–13 Segunda Liga, 2013.
