It was the club's fifth consecutive season in this league, having been promoted from the 2. Bundesliga in 2008. Velbert (, Low Rhenish: ''Vèlbed'') is a town in the district of Mettmann (district), Mettmann, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The town is renowned worldwide for the production of locks and fittings.
