2012 Victorian Local Elections
The 2012 Victorian local elections were held on 27 October 2012 to elect the councils of 78 of the 79 local government areas in Victoria, Australia. Several councils also held mayoral elections. The elections saw Country Alliance win their first-ever elected representative, with party co-founder Russell Bate winning unopposed in Mansfield. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. The Sustainable Australia Party (officially registered as Sustainable Australia Party – Stop Overdevelopment / Corruption), formerly the Sustainable Population Party, is an Australian political party. Formed in 2010, it describes itself as being "from the political centre". History The party has been registered federally since 2010. Clifford Hayes
Clifford Hayes (born 13 August 1951) is a former Australian politician. He was a Sustainable Australia member of the Victorian Legislative Council between 2018 and 2022, representing Southern Metropolitan Region. He was not re-elected at the 2022 state election. Film career Before entering politics, Hayes worked as a television and film editor. In 1979, he and Tony Paterson jointly won the AFI Award for Best Editing for their work on the film ''Mad Max''. The City of Bayside is a local government area in Victoria, Australia. It is within the southern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of 36 square kilometres and in 2018 had a population of 105,718 people. The City of Merri-bek is a local government area in metropolitan Melbourne, Australia. It comprises the inner northern suburbs between 4 and 11 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. The Merri-bek local government area covers , and in June 2018, it had a population of 181,725. The local government area was created as City of Moreland in 1994 during the amalgamations of local governments by the state government, being created from the former local government areas of the City of Brunswick, the City of Coburg and the southern part of the City of Broadmeadows. Shire Of Mansfield
The Mansfield Shire is a local government area in the Hume region of Victoria, Australia, located in the north-east part of the state. It covers an area of and in June 2018, had a population of 8,979. It includes the towns of Mansfield, Maindample, Mount Buller, Bonnie Doon, Jamieson, Kevington, Merrijig, Tolmie and Woods Point. It was formed in 2002 from the de-amalgamation of the Shire of Delatite into the current shire and the Rural City of Benalla.
