2012 UCF Knights Football Team
The 2012 UCF Knights football team represented the University of Central Florida in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Knights played in the Eastern Division of Conference USA and played their home games at Bright House Networks Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The Knights were led by head coach George O'Leary, who was in his ninth season with the team. The 2012 season marked UCF's last as a member of Conference USA, as the Knights moved to the American Athletic Conference in 2013. UCF was originally barred from postseason play for the season due to recruiting violations in both football and basketball under previous athletic director Keith Tribble. The university had its appeal delayed until 2013 and was bowl-eligible for 2012. George O'Leary
George Joseph O'Leary (born August 17, 1946) is a former American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1994 to 2001 and the UCF Knights from 2004 to 2015. He was famously hired in 2001 to be the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish but resigned after five days for lying on his resume. O'Leary was an assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL) from 2002 to 2004, and an assistant coach for the Syracuse Orange and San Diego Chargers. During his twelve-year tenure with the Knights, O'Leary guided the team to the fourth-best turnaround in NCAA history (2005), and led UCF to one of the biggest upsets of the BCS era in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl. WYGM
WYGM (740 AM) is a commercial radio station in Orlando, Florida, United States. It is owned by iHeartMedia and airs a sports radio format. Programming is simulcast on FM translator station W245CL at 96.9 MHz in nearby Deltona, Florida, and uses its FM dial position in its moniker, "96.9 The Game." It is also heard on the HD2 channel of co-owned WJRR 101.1. WYGM has studios and offices in iHeart's Orlando facility in Maitland. Rannell Hall (born January 30, 1993) is an American football wide receiver and cornerback who is a free agent. He played college football at UCF. Professional career Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hall signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2015. He was waived on September 6, 2015 and signed to the practice squad. Rob Calabrese (born March 5, 1990) is an American football coach who is an offensive assistant for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the quarterbacks coach for the New York Jets. Jeffrey Godfrey IV (born January 1, 1992) is a former American football player. Godfrey played for the University of Central Florida Knights. He led the Knights to the Conference USA Championship in his freshman year (2010), becoming the first true freshman quarterback to win an FBS conference championship game. Storm Johnson (born July 10, 1992) is an American former professional football running back. He was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft. Robby Blake Bortles (born April 28, 1992) is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons, primarily with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tyson Summers (born April 11, 1980) is an American college football coach. He is the defensive coordinator for Colorado State University since 2025.
