This is a list of events held in 2012 by K-1, a kickboxing promotion based in Hong Kong. K-1 World MAX 2012 World Championship Tournament Final 16 ''K-1 World MAX 2012 World Championship Tournament Final 16'' was a kickboxing event promoted by the K-1 in association with the Dutch-based promotion It's Showtime. It took place on May 27, 2012 at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, Spain. It was the 9th annual K-1 World Max (70 kg/154 lb weight class) World Championship Final and the first K-1 event since the establishment of K-1 Global Holdings Ltd by EMCOM Entertainment. These fights were played under K-1 rules with three three-minute rounds and one extra round. Murthel Groenhart
Murthel Cyrill Dwyth Groenhart (born October 10, 1986) is a Dutch-Surinamese kickboxer and mixed martial artist. Groenhart is the 2012 K-1 World MAX World Championship Tournament Champion and former Glory Welterweight Champion. Kickboxing career Early years Groenhart began his kickboxing career fighting on small shows in the Netherlands. He made his SLAMM debut in 2006, losing both of his fights with the organization, including a decision loss to Leroy Kaestner at B-Klass level. In 2008, Groenhart was invited by the K-1 organization to take part in an eight-man tournament, which had originally been intended for heavyweights but was changed later for fighters around the 75 kg bracket. Groenhart won the competition in spectacular fashion, dispatching all three of his opponents by stoppage on the night to take the title in Milan. Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena
The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena was a multi-purpose arena at Exposition Park, in the University Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. It was located next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and just south of the campus of the University of Southern California, which managed and operated both venues under a master lease agreement with the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission. The arena was closed in April 2016, and was demolished in September of that same year. It was replaced with BMO Stadium, home of Major League Soccer's Los Angeles FC, which opened in 2018. Anderson Silva (kickboxer)
Anderson Manoel da Silva (born 29 August 1986), better known as Anderson Braddock, is a Brazilian heavyweight kickboxer and mixed martial artist. He has competed in the It's Showtime, K-1, SUPERKOMBAT, ONE Championship, and GLORY. Combat Press ranked him in the heavyweight top ten between September 2014 and April 2016. Biography and career Early career Silva began started his kickboxing career at Combat Sport gym in São Paulo, Brazil when he was around 12 or 13 years old. His fighters middle name "Braddock" comes from Col. James Braddock, from the movie Missing In Action. In 2007 Braddock was called up by Peter Aerts, as a sparring partner. Badr Hari
Badr Hari (Arabic: بدر هاري; born 8 December 1984) is a Moroccan-Dutch professional kickboxer and Muay Thai fighter. Born in Amsterdam, Hari made his professional kickboxing debut in 2000, and quickly rose to fame with his aggressive and explosive style. In 2002, he became the WPKL Dutch Muay Thai champion and The Eight Tournament champion (Muay Thai). In 2007, he became the K-1 Heavyweight World Champion when he defeated Yusuke Fujimoto by knockout in 56 seconds. He defended his title twice, against Doug Viney and Ray Sefo, before losing it to Remy Bonjasky by disqualification in 2008. Lorenzo Javier Jorge
Lorenzo Javier Jorge (born 2 July 1984), also known as Jorge Loren, is a retired Spanish professional kickboxer and K-1 veteran. Loren was the Super Cruiserweight Champion of the Superkombat Fighting Championship. He is also the 2014 Superkombat World Grand Prix tournament champion and fought for the It's Showtime 95MAX world title, losing to Danyo Ilunga by decision after 5 rounds. Mirko Filipović (; born 10 September 1974), better known by his ring name Mirko Cro Cop, is a Croatian former professional mixed martial artist, kickboxer and amateur boxer. He is mostly known for his time in Pride Fighting Championships. Cro Cop fought in the UFC, K-1, RIZIN and Bellator. Rico Verhoeven (born 10 April 1989) is a Dutch professional kickboxer, former professional boxer and mixed martial artist who currently competes in the heavyweight division of GLORY, where he is the reigning Glory Heavyweight Champion. Sergei Lascenko
Serhiy Lashchenko ( Ukrainian: Сергій Лащенко; 21 June 1987 – 8 April 2015), also spelled as Sergii Lashchenko and Sergei Lascenko, was a Ukrainian kickboxer. He was a K-1 and Superkombat Heavyweight. Lashchenko won the Superkombat Tournament Championship at SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix 2011 Final, stopping Ismael Londt with punches to the head in the first round and becoming the first Superkombat World Grand Prix champion in the process. Lee Su-hwan (; born January 26, 1983), often anglicised to Su-hwan Lee, is a South Korean middleweight kickboxer currently fighting out of Khan Gym in Seoul. He is the K-1 Fighting Network KHAN 2007 in Seoul champion currently fighting in K-1 MAX and Shoot boxing. Biography and career Su Hwan Lee made his K-1 MAX debut against Remigijus Morkevičius in 2005 at K-1 Fighting Network Korea MAX 2005. Artur Kyshenko ( Ukrainian: Артур Кишенко, born November 14, 1986) is a Ukrainian middleweight kickboxer, fighting out of Kyshenko Gym. He is the 2015 Kunlun Fight 80 kg Tournament World Champion and K-1 World MAX 2008 Finalist. He was ranked as the #1 Welterweight in the world by Combat Press from September 2017 until February 2020, when he transitioned into boxing.
