2012 ICC World Twenty20
The 2012 ICC World Twenty20 was the fourth edition of the Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20, an international Twenty20 International, Twenty20 cricket tournament that took place in Sri Lanka from 18 September to 7 October 2012 which was won by the West Indies cricket team, West Indies. This was the first World Twenty20 tournament held in an Asian country, the last three having been held in South Africa, England and the West Indies. Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga had been chosen as the event ambassador of the tournament by ICC. The format had four groups of three teams in a preliminary round. It was the last edition with 12 teams format before it was expanded to 16 teams. Match fixtures were announced on 21 September 2011 by ICC. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global Sports governing body, governing body of cricket. It was founded as the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1909 by representatives from Australia, England, and South Africa. Pallekele
Pallekele is a suburb of the city of Kandy in the Kandy District of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. This area is notable for hosting several significant institutions, including the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, the Trinity College Rugby Stadium, the Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy (SIBA), and the PALK Seismic Station. ICC Europe is the International Cricket Council region responsible for administration of the sport of cricket in Europe. It is a subordinate body to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The organisation currently has 34 members, located in Europe, and is responsible for the development, promotion and administration of the game in the continent. ICC East Asia-Pacific is the International Cricket Council region responsible for administration of the sport of Cricket in East Asia and the Pacific area; Oceania. The ICC EAP was founded in 1996. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is a cricket organization which was established in 1983, to promote and develop the sport of Cricket in Asia. Subordinate to the International Cricket Council, the council is the continent's regional administrative body, and currently consists of 27 member associations. The ICC Americas is the International Cricket Council region responsible for administration of the sport of cricket in the Americas. It is a subordinate body to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The organisation currently has 17 members, located in Northern America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, and is responsible for the development, promotion and administration of the game in the above regions. The Africa Cricket Association (ACA) is an international body which coordinates the development of Cricket in Africa. The ACA was founded in 1997. Strike rate refers to two different cricket statistics, statistics in the sport of cricket. Batting strike rate is a measure of how quickly a batsman, batter achieves the primary goal of batting (cricket), batting, namely scoring run (cricket), runs, measured in runs per 100 balls; higher is better. Net Run Rate
Net run rate (NRR) is a statistical method used in analysing teamwork and/or performance in cricket. It is the most commonly used method of ranking teams with equal points in limited overs league competitions, similar to goal difference in football. The NRR in a single game is the average runs per over that team scores, minus the average runs per over that is scored against them. The NRR in a tournament is the average runs per over that a team scores across the whole tournament, minus the average runs per over that is scored against them across the whole tournament. Super Over
Super Over, also known as a one-over eliminator or a one over per side eliminator, is a Tiebreaker, tie-breaking method used in Limited overs cricket, limited-overs cricket matches. If a match ends in a "Result (cricket)#Tie, tie", it proceeds to a Super Over, in which each team plays a single additional Over (cricket), over of six balls to determine the winner.
