2012 FC Kairat Season
The 2012 FC Kairat season was the 2nd successive season that the club playing in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Kazakhstan, since their promotion back to the top flight in 2009. Football Club Kairat ( kk, Qaırat Fýtbol Klýby) is a professional football club based in Almaty, which plays in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest level of Kazakh football. Founded in 1954 as Lokomotiv Alma-Ata, they became Urozhay in 1955 and Kairat in 1956. The club's home ground is the Central Stadium which has a capacity of 23,804. The club's home kit colours are yellow and black striped shirts, black shorts and black socks. Kairat was the leading Kazakh club during the Soviet period and the only representative of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic in the Soviet Top League. For this, Kairat became nicknamed ''The Nation's Team'', and remains to be widely supported all over the country. All in all, the club spent 24 seasons in the Soviet highest level. FC Vostok ( kk, Восток Футбол Клубы, ''Vostok Fýtbol Klýby'') was a Kazakh football club from Oskemen (Ust-Kamenogorsk), and a founding member of the Kazakhstan Premier League in 1992. The club's best finish in the league was 5th place in 1997 and again in 1998. History On 19 September 2008, FC Shakhter and FC Vostok were found guilty of one count of match fixing. Coaches and management involved were banned from football for 60 months and both clubs were expelled from the Kazakhstan Premier League On 2 October 2008, the Football Federation of Kazakhstan revised these decisions. FC Vostok's expulsion was upheld, while FC Shakhter's punishment was reduced to a deduction of nine points. The result of the fixed match was annulled, and all remaining Vostok games were to be counted as won 3–0 by their opponents. FC Zhemchuzhina-Sochi (russian: ФК Жемчужина-Сочи) was a Russian association football club based in Sochi, Krasnodar Krai founded in 1991 and dissolved in 2012. History Zhemchuzhina Sochi was founded in 1991 and named after a hotel which was one of the founders. Zhemchuzhina is Russian for "a pearl". Zhemchuzhina spent one season in the Soviet Second League B (winning zonal tournament), but were entitled to enter Russian First Division in 1992, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
