2012 Desafio Litoral Rally
The 2012 Desafio Litoral Rally was a first edition of rally raid endurance race held in Argentina from 23–28 July 2012. It was the first Dakar Series rally held in South America. The itinerary contained 3,454 kilometres of roads and tracks in total, including 1,840 of timed sections. It was organized by the Amaury Sport Organisation. Itinerary The race was held in public roads in the northeastern Argentine provinces of Misiones, Corrientes and Chaco. The original route included two stops at Asunción and Encarnación in Paraguay, but were cancelled prior to the event because of political instability after the impeachment of the president.Reformulan el trazado del Desafío Litoral

Rally Raid
Rally raid, also known as cross-country rallying, is a form of long distance off-road racing that takes place over several days. The length of the event can be as short as 2–3 days for a cross-country baja to as long as 15 days with marathon rallies like the Dakar Rally; with other cross-country rally events lasting 4–5 days. With skill in navigation being key, the driving skill and endurance of riders, drivers, co-drivers, and machines are put to the test. The total distance covered can be anywhere between 600 km to over 5,000 km with terrain ranging from sandy dunes, forest roads, mountain roads, and dry river beds; among others. The most well known rally raid is the Dakar Rally; a marathon rally which can last anywhere from 10 to 15 days. Other prominent marathon rallies include the Africa Eco Race and Silk Way Rally. Cyril Despres
Cyril Despres (born 24 January 1974) is a French rally racer and resident of Andorra. He won the Dakar Rally five times, in 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2013, riding a KTM motorcycle. He also won the Red Bull Romaniacs, one of the toughest hard enduro events on the planet, three times, in 2004, 2005 and 2007 and the Erzberg Rodeo in 2002 and 2003. In the 2018 season he is one of the official drivers of the Team Peugeot Total. Career On 10 January 2012, at the 2012 Dakar Rally, Portuguese pilot Paulo Gonçalves pulled Despres out of the mud but Cyril did not return the favour. Out of 7 riders all but the Spaniard Marc Coma got stuck; the organisers therefore changed the course. At the end of the stage, the time lost was credited to Despres. Gilles Picard
The Gilles are the oldest and principal participants in the Carnival of Binche in Belgium. They go out on Shrove Tuesday from 4 am until late hours and dance to traditional songs. Other cities, such as La Louvière and Nivelles, have a tradition of Gilles at carnival, but the Carnival of Binche is by far the most famous. Michel Périn
Michel Périn (born 19 January 1957, in Saint-Mihiel) is a French rally navigator. Biography He started racing in 1977. In 1984 he turned professional as co-pilot of François Chatriot, and finished second in the French Rally Championship, championship that he would win in 1988, 1989 and 1990. He changed to off-road rally racing in 1992, to the side of Pierre Lartigue, winning the Dakar Rally in 1994, 1995 and 1996. He also achieved multiple victories and podium finishes in many of the most important offroad races, including Rally of Tunisia, Atlas Rally, Baja Italy, Spanish Baja and Baja Portugal. Orlando Terranova (born 10 November 1979 in Mendoza) is an Argentine rally driver, best known for his participation in the Dakar Rally. Biography Terranova began his professional career in 1997 as an enduro rider, taking four national titles and placing third in the Latin America enduro championship in 2001. Two years later, he won the Chilean Rally del Desierto and the production car category of the Argentina-based Por las Pampas Rally, as well as taking silver in the International Six Days Enduro for a second time after his success in 2001.
