2012 Categoría Primera B Season
The 2012 Categoría Primera B season is the 23rd season since its founding and is officially called the 2012 Torneo Postobón for sponsorship reasons. Format The season will consist of two tournaments: the 'Torneo Apertura' and the 'Torneo Finalización'. Each tournament will have an identical format of eighteen rounds with a round of regional derbies in the ninth round. At the end of the first eighteen rounds, the eight best-placed team will advance to the Semifinal round where teams will be sorted into groups and play a short double Round-robin tournament group stage. The winner of each group will advance to the Final round, which will consist of two legs. The winner will advance to the season final at the end of the Torneo Finalización. Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is the second-division association football, football league in Colombia. The tournament was inaugurated on 29 January 1991. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season. Eduardo Lara
Eduardo Lara Lozano (born 4 September 1959 in Cali) is a Colombian football manager. Lara has coached all levels of the Colombian national youth team. He is currently the manager of Alianza. Career Lara led the Colombia U17s to a third place finish at the 2002 South American Championship. This finish allowed them to qualify to the U-17 World Championship the following year, where they finished fourth after losing to champions Brazil in the semi-finals. Lara and his U17 team were eliminated from the South American Championship and failed to qualify for the U17 World Cup. He led the Colombia U20s to the 2005 South American Championship title and to the U20 World Cup that same year, where they finished first in their group but lost in the round of 16 to champions Argentina which had Lionel Messi.
