2012 CFL Draft
The 2012 CFL Draft took place on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 3:00 PM ET on TSN. 45 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. The Calgary Stampeders had the most selections with eight, while Hamilton had seven picks. The Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes each had six and the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers had five picks. The defending Grey Cup champion BC Lions and the Saskatchewan Roughriders had the fewest selections with just four. A total of three trades involving 11 draft picks in this draft were made on the draft day itself. Of the 45 draft selections, 24 players were drafted from Canadian Interuniversity Sport institutions, which is the lowest percentage of CIS players taken since 2006 (26 of 50, 52%, were selected then). 99th Grey Cup
The 99th Grey Cup was a Canadian football game between the Canadian Football League East Division, East Division champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Canadian Football League West Division, West Division champion BC Lions to decide the champion of the Canadian Football League in the 2011 CFL season, 2011 season. The Lions defeated the Blue Bombers 34–23 and became the first team in CFL history to win the Grey Cup after starting the season with five straight losses. They also became the first team to win the championship game at home since the 1994 BC Lions season, 1994 Lions did it in the 82nd Grey Cup, and were only the fourth team in the modern era to do so. CFL Evaluation Camp
The CFL Combine (formerly known as the Evaluation Camp or E-Camp) is a three-day program in which athletes from Canadian universities and Canadians in the NCAA are scouted by general managers, coaches and scouts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The goal of the camp is for the nine CFL franchises to have a better idea of whom they would like to draft in the CFL draft which usually takes place roughly six weeks after the camp. The first combined Evaluation Camp took place in 2000 in Toronto and continued every year in Toronto until 2016 when it was announced that Regina, Saskatchewan would host the combine in 2017. Stefan Ptaszek
Stefan Ptaszek (born April 15, 1971) is the head coach for the McMaster Marauders. He is a former Canadian football wide receiver and former offensive coordinator for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, and UBC Thunderbirds. Playing career Collegiately, Ptaszek played CIAU football for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. He was named an all-Canadian three times and was part of the 1991 Yates Cup and 27th Vanier Cup championship team. Ptaszek was also named to the Golden Hawks Team of the Century and holds the school's records for most receiving yards in a career. Jeff Cummins (Canadian Football)
Jeff Cummins (born May 25, 1969) is a former Canadian football defensive lineman and is the head coach for Acadia University's football team, the Acadia Axemen. Cummins became Acadia's head coach in 2003 and has led the team to first-place finishes in 2005, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2017, and 2019. Blake Nill
Blake Nill (born February 16, 1962) is a former Canadian football defensive lineman and the current head coach for the University of British Columbia's football team, the UBC Thunderbirds. Previously, Nill had served as head coach for the Saint Mary's Huskies football team for eight years from 1998 to 2005. His Huskies teams appeared in four Vanier Cups, winning in 2001 and 2002 while losing in 2003 and 1999. Christopher Schultz (February 16, 1960 – March 4, 2021) was a Canadian professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). Duane Forde
Duane Forde (born May 8, 1969) is a Canadian television broadcaster for TSN and a former player in the CFL. Career College football Born in Toronto, Forde attended the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts, Honours in Physical Education. While studying at Western, Forde played CIAU football for the Western Ontario Mustangs from 1987 to 1990. While he was at UWO, the Mustangs lost just once in the regular season, and they won the 1989 Vanier Cup. Selected two times as the Mustangs' Most Valuable Player, Forde co-captained the 1989 team. The ''CFL on TSN'' is TSN's presentation of the Canadian Football League. Rod Black
Rod Black (born September 28, 1962) is a Canadian sports announcer best known for his work with CTV Sports and TSN from 1990 to 2021. He is now a host and brand ambassador for NorthStar Bets, a brand of NorthStar Gaming. Education Black was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
