2012 British Soap Awards
The 2012 British Soap Awards honoured the best in British soap operas throughout 2011 and 2012. The ceremony was held on 28 April 2012 at the London Studios, Lambeth, and was later broadcast on ITV1 (TV channel), ITV1 and STV (TV channel), STV. The publicly voted categories were announced on 27 February 2012, with the vote opening that same day. This included a longlist for the British Soap Award for Best Actress, Best Actress and British Soap Award for Best Actor, Actor awards. The shortlist, including panel nominations, was released on 5 April 2012. ITV soap ''Coronation Street'' tied with BBC soap ''EastEnders'' for winning the most awards of the night, both winning seven. However, ''EastEnders'' won the Best British Soap award, as well as taking both the British Soap Award for Outstanding Achievement, Lifetime and Special Achievement accolades. The British Soap Awards
The British Soap Awards (BSAs) are an annual awards ceremony in the United Kingdom which honours the best moments in British soap operas. The ceremony is televised on ITV. The trophies given to the winners are made from metal and glass and have been manufactured by British firm Creative Awards since their inception. The majority of the awards are voted for by a panel of industry professionals, while certain awards including Best British Soap and Best Leading Performer are voted for by the general public. History The first British Soap Awards took place in 1999 and was presented by Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, who presented the awards until 2001. Matthew Kelly presented the 2002 awards, before being replaced by Des O'Connor and Melanie Sykes in 2003. Paul O'Grady presented the awards between 2004 and 2005. Tanya Branning
Tanya Branning (also Cross and Jessop) is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'', played by Jo Joyner. She made her first appearance on 27 June 2006. Joyner left the show temporarily on 25 December 2009 for maternity leave. After a guest appearance, Tanya eventually returned on 27 September 2010. Carla Connor (also Gordon and Barlow) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Alison King. A French language version followed shortly afterwards, and an American edition began publication in 2013, ending in 2025. ''Hollyoaks'' is a British soap opera which originally began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. It was created by Phil Redmond, who had previously conceived the soap opera ''Brookside (TV series), Brookside''.
