2012 Apia International Sydney
The 2012 Apia International Sydney was a joint ATP and WTA tennis tournament, that was played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 120th edition of the Apia International Sydney and was a part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2012 ATP World Tour, and of the WTA Premier tournaments of the 2012 WTA Tour. Both the men's and the women's events took place at the NSW Tennis Centre in Sydney, Australia, from 8 to 15 January 2012. Due to rain, the Men's Singles and Double's finals had to be rescheduled from the evening of 14 January to the morning of 15 January, the day before the Australian Open was due to begin. Jarkko Nieminen
Jarkko Kalervo Nieminen (born 23 July 1981) is a Finnish former professional tennis player. His highest ranking of world No. 13, achieved in July 2006, is a Finnish record. He has won two ATP singles titles and five doubles titles in his career. His best performances in Grand Slam tournaments have been reaching the quarterfinals of the 2005 US Open, the 2006 Wimbledon Championships, and the 2008 Australian Open. Statistically Finland's best player to date, Nieminen is also the first and so far only Finnish player to have won an ATP singles title and to have reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam singles event. Florian Mayer (; born 5 October 1983) is a German former professional tennis player. Mayer reached his career-high singles ranking of world No. 18 in June 2011. Also in 2011, Mayer won his first ATP title after four previous defeats in ATP finals. Mayer competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Ryan Sweeting (born July 14, 1987) is an American former professional tennis player. Personal life Sweeting was born in Nassau, Bahamas. Michael Craig Russell (born May 1, 1978) is a retired American professional tennis player, who is now the tennis coach of Taylor Fritz. James Duckworth (born 21 January 1992) is an Australian professional tennis player.
