2012 Adelaide Thunderbirds Season
The 2012 Adelaide Thunderbirds season saw Adelaide Thunderbirds compete in the 2012 ANZ Championship. After winning nine games doing the regular season, Thunderbirds finished fourth and qualified for the play-offs. However they subsequently lost the minor semi-final 49–48 to the eventual overall champions, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. Players Jhaniele Fowler In November 2011, Thunderbirds signed Jhaniele Fowler, the Jamaica international. However the deal depended upon Carla Borrego, a former Jamaica international, successfully becoming an Australian citizen and thus freeing up Thunderbirds' export place for Fowler. This did not happen in time for the start of the season and the deal collapsed. Dan Ryan (netball)
Dan Ryan is an Australian netball player, coach, sports journalist and broadcaster. He is currently the head coach of the West Coast Fever in the Australian Suncorp Super Netball competition. He was head coach of Manchester Thunder during the 2016 Netball Superleague season when they finished top of the table during the regular season and runners up in the grand final. He was subsequently head coach of Adelaide Thunderbirds for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He was an assistant coach when Thunderbirds won the 2013 ANZ Championship and when Manchester Thunder won the 2019 Netball Superleague title. As a player, Ryan captained both the Victorian Cyclones and Australia Sonix men's netball teams. Netball New South Wales Waratahs is an Australian netball team that represents Netball New South Wales in the Australian Netball League. In 2008 they were founder members of the ANL. They were ANL champions in 2011 and have been grand finalists on a further five occasions, making them the second most successful team in the ANL after Victorian Fury. Australian Netball League
The Australian Netball Championships, formerly the Australian Netball League, is an Australian netball competition. Since 2008 it has served as a second level competition, initially below the ANZ Championship and later below Suncorp Super Netball. It is organised by Netball Australia. The teams in the competition are effectively the reserve teams of Suncorp Super Netball teams and/or the representative teams of state netball leagues, such as the South Australia state netball league, the Victorian Netball League and the West Australian Netball League. Victorian Fury were the inaugural ANL champions. Fury are also the competition's most successful team, having won eight premierships. Kelly Altmann
Kelly Altmann (born 27 April 1993) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, currently playing for the Collingwood Magpies. Career Altmann's elite-level career commenced in 2019 when she was signed by the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Australian Super Netball league. She had been a training partner at the South Australian-based team for two seasons prior to being signed onto the senior list by the club ahead of the 2019 season. During her time as a training partner, Altmann was vice-captain for the Thunderbirds' reserves team, the Southern Force in the Australian Netball League. Altmann played every match for the club in 2019, though she was not re-signed by the club at the end of the season. Kate Shimmin
Kate Walsh (née Shimmin; born in 1992) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the Sunshine Coast Lightning. In August 2019, Jess Thirlby the new England Roses Coach announced Shimmin would join the full time England Roses programme. Shimmin grew up in South Australia and was a part of the South Australian Institute of Sport Volleyball program before being offered a SASI Netball scholarship which she chose over volleyball. When she finished High School she moved to Canberra where she developed her skills at the Australian Institute of Sport. Domestic career In 2011, after a year at the AIS, Shimmin was offered her first contract to play for the Adelaide Thunderbirds and went on to play for them up until and including the 2016 season, she was a part of the team that won the premiership in the 2013 season. Maddy Proud
Maddy Proud (born 4 December 1993), also known as Madeleine Proud, is an Australian netball player. Between 2011 and 2016, Proud played for Adelaide Thunderbirds in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, she has played for New South Wales Swifts in Suncorp Super Netball. She captained the Swifts team that won the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball title. Cody Lange
Cody Lange (born 24 October 1994) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Lange began her career at the Thunderbirds in 2011 and played at the club for six of the next seven seasons, missing only the 2013 season. In 2017 Lange moved to new club the Collingwood Magpies and was a starting player until suffering an injury to her anterior cruciate ligament which forced her to miss the finals series. Erin Bell
Erin Bell (born 30 April 1987) is a former Australian netball player. Bell's career started in 2005 with the Sydney Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She was the first player in the history of the ANZ Championship to win three premierships; the first with the New South Wales Swifts in 2008 and the second and third with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2010 and 2013. ANZ Championship Erin Bell played with the NSW Swifts for the first two years of the ANZ Championship. Unhappy with the amount of court time she received, she moved to the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2010. She helped secure a premiership for the Thunderbirds, playing at GA in the Grand Final. Emily Beaton
Emily Beaton (born 9 April 1987) was an Australian netball player in the ANZ Championship, playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds Adelaide Thunderbirds are an Australian netball team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship and between 1997 and 2007, they played ....
