2011–12 Levante UD Season
The 2011–12 season was the 71st season in Levante UD, Levante's history and their second consecutive season in La Liga. With new manager Juan Ignacio Martínez, the club aimed to stay in the top flight of La Liga, Spanish football for another season but far surpassed their initial aim and finished 6th, qualifying for European competition in doing so. Levante competed in the 2011–12 La Liga and the 2011–12 Copa del Rey where they entered in the Round of 32. Sergio Martínez Ballesteros (born 4 September 1975) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central defender. He started and finished his 19-year professional career with Levante, amassing La Liga totals of 387 games and eight goals over 15 seasons. Asier del Horno Cosgaya (born 19 January 1981) is a retired Spanish footballer who primarily played in the left back position. He initially gained prominence during his stint with Athletic Bilbao, where he featured in 126 official matches over a span of five years and netted 17 goals.
