2011 Turkish General Election
General elections were held in Turkey on 12 June 2011 to elect the 550 members of Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Grand National Assembly. In accordance to the result of the 2007 Turkish constitutional referendum, constitutional referendum held in 2007, the elections were held four years after the 2007 Turkish general election, previous elections in 2007 instead of five. The result was a third consecutive victory for the incumbent Justice and Development Party (Turkey), Justice and Development Party (AKP), with its leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan being re-elected as Prime Minister of Turkey, Prime Minister for a third term with 49.8% of the vote and 327 MPs. Grand National Assembly Of Turkey
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey ( ), usually referred to simply as the GNAT or TBMM, also referred to as , in Turkish, is the Unicameralism, unicameral Turkey, Turkish legislature. It is the sole body given the legislative prerogatives by the Constitution of Turkey, Turkish Constitution. Student Selection and Placement System (, ÖSYS) or Higher Education Foundations Examination (, YKS), formerly Higher Education Examination Undergraduate Placement Examination, (, YGS-LYS), is a standardized test for the admission to higher education in Turkey administered by ÖSYM. Within the Turkish education system, the only way to enter a university is through this exam. 1,692,000 high school graduates took the exam in 2011Milliyet Gazetesi, March 24th 2011 and 2,255,386 in 2016. Deniz Baykal
Deniz Baykal (20 July 1938 – 11 February 2023) was a Turkish politician. A member of the Republican People's Party (CHP) who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 1996.
