2011 Saskatchewan Roughriders Season
The 2011 Saskatchewan Roughriders season was the 54th season for the team in the Canadian Football League. The Roughriders finished 4th place in the West Division with a 5–13 record and were eliminated from the playoffs after a loss to the BC Lions on October 16, 2011. This marks the first time since 2001 that the Roughriders have missed the playoffs. Offseason CFL Draft The 2011 CFL Draft took place on Sunday, May 8, 2011. The Roughriders had five selections in the draft, with the first coming in the 12th spot overall, after trading their seventh overall pick to the Toronto Argonauts for the 12th and 27th selections. Saskatchewan selected defensive back Craig Butler with their first pick and were able to select Matt O'Donnell, an offensive lineman who was one of just two CIS players to be named to the American East–West Shrine Game. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. The primary roles of a running back are to receive handoffs from the quarterback to rush the ball, to line up as a receiver to catch the ball, and block. Kyle Exume (born November 22, 1987, in Brooklin, Ontario) is a professional Canadian football running back who was most recently a member of the Edmonton Eskimos. He most previously played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Calgary Dinos
The Calgary Dinos are the athletic teams that represent the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. They were known as the "Dinosaurs" but usually referred to as the "Dinos" until 1999, when the name was officially shortened. Some of its venues are the Jack Simpson Gymnasium (basketball m/w, volleyball m/w, track and field m/w), McMahon Stadium (football, soccer m/w), Hawkings Field (field hockey), University of Calgary Aquatic Centre (swimming, often shortened to Aquatic Centre) and a 200m Running Track (cross-country and track & field practices). Queen's Golden Gaels
The Queen's Gaels (also known as the Queen's Golden Gaels) is the Athletics program representing Queen's University at Kingston in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Team colours are blue, red, and gold. The main athletics facilities include Richardson Memorial Stadium, the Queen's Athletics and Recreation Centre, Nixon Field and Tindall Field. Queen's teams have had a variety of successes both provincially and nationally. Western Ontario Mustangs
The Western Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The school's athletic program supports 46 varsity teams. Their mascot is a Mustang named J.W. and the school colours are purple and white.
