2011 Pan American Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament
The 2011 Pan American Qualification Tournament for Taekwondo at the 2012 Summer Olympics, London Olympic Games was held in Querétaro, Mexico from November 18 to November 20, 2011. Each country may enter maximum 2 male and 2 female divisions with only one in each division and the first three ranked athletes per weight division qualify their NOCs a place each for Olympic Games. Taekwondo At The 2012 Summer Olympics
''Taekwondo'', ''Tae Kwon Do'' or ''Taekwon-Do'' (; ko, 태권도/跆拳道 ) is a Korean form of martial arts involving punching and kicking techniques, with emphasis on head-height kicks, spinning jump kicks, and fast kicking techniques. The literal translation for tae kwon do is "kicking", "punching", and "the art or way of". They are a kind of martial arts in which one attacks or defends with hands and feet anytime or anywhere, with occasional use of weapons. The physical training undertaken in Taekwondo is purposeful and fosters strength of mind through mental armament. Taekwondo practitioners wear a uniform, known as a dobok. It is a combat sport and was developed during the 1940s and 1950s by Korean martial artists with experience in martial arts such as karate, Chinese martial arts, and indigenous Korean martial arts traditions such as Taekkyon, Subak, and Gwonbeop. Márcio Wenceslau
Márcio Wenceslau Ferreira (born March 20, 1980 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian taekwondo practitioner. He qualified for the men's flyweight category (58 kg) at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, when he won a silver medal for his host nation at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, losing out to Gabriel Mercedes of the Dominican Republic in the final match. He also added the bronze medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, after being defeated by Mexico's Damian Villa in the semi-final round. He is the brother of Marcel Ferreira, who also competed for the same category at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Sergio García Fernández (; born 9 January 1980) is a Spanish professional golfer. He turned professional in 1999 and played on the European Tour and PGA Tour prior to joining LIV Golf in 2022.
