2011 Northern Mystics Season
The 2011 Northern Mystics season saw Northern Mystics compete in the 2011 ANZ Championship. With a team coached by Debbie Fuller and captained by Temepara George, Mystics finished the regular season fourth behind Queensland Firebirds, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and New South Wales Swifts. During the regular season, Mystics claimed their first win in Australia, with a 56–54 win over West Coast Fever in Round 9. Mystics defeated Swifts in the minor semi-final and Magic in the preliminary final before losing to Firebirds in the grand final. Mystics finished the season second overall. Debbie Fuller (netball)
Debbie Fuller (née Matoe) is a New Zealand netball coach and former international netball player. Fuller was a defender in the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns, from 1993 to 1996, during which time she competed at the 1995 Netball World Championships in Birmingham. Fuller retired from the Silver Ferns after 1996, spending a year in Argentina. She returned for the 1997 provincial season, and the following year captained Canterbury in the inaugural National Bank Cup. Fuller moved to the Capital Shakers in 1999, playing with the Wellington-based side until her retirement in 2002. After coaching stints in Wellington and the Bay of Plenty, Fuller accepted a position as a defensive coach with the ANZ Championship side the Northern Mystics for the 2009 season, under new head coach Te Aroha Keenan. The Northern Advocate
''The Northern Advocate'' is the regional daily paper for the city of Whangārei and the Northland Region in New Zealand. History ''The Whangarei Comet and Northern Advertiser'' was founded in 1875 as a weekly paper by George Alderton and, despite a small population which led to a prediction the paper "would go up like a comet, and come down like a stick", the paper flourished and within two years had expanded to 12 pages and become the ''Northern Advocate and General Advertiser'', with a small section printed in Māori. The paper began daily publication in 1902. On Monday, 23 April 2012, the weekday ''Northern Advocate'' changed to tabloid format. Grace Rasmussen
Grace Kara (née Rasmussen; born 18 March 1988 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a former New Zealand netball player of Samoan descent. Kara played in the National Bank Cup for the Auckland Diamonds from 2005 to 2007. She continued playing in Auckland for the Northern Mystics in the ANZ Championship, starting in 2008. She is the younger sister of fellow Mystics player Rachel Rasmussen and she is also the older sister of Ann-Helen Rasmussen. Kara was a member of the New Zealand U21 team from 2004 to 2009, winning gold (2005) and silver (2009) medals at the World Youth National Championships. In 2009, she travelled with the senior national team, the Silver Ferns, as a member of their extended training squad. Kara earned a place in the Silver Ferns lineup the following year, making her debut against Samoa. Bailey Mes
Bailey Mes (born 27 May 1989) is an Auckland born New Zealand netball player. She can play at goal shoot, goal attack, and wing attack. She currently plays for the Waikato/BOP Magic in the ANZ Premiership. In 2012, she was selected into the Silver Ferns and made her debut in the Quad Series that year, against South Africa. She was a shock selection after playing only one quarter in the 2012 ANZ season, and was picked based on a strong trial, and her natural athleticism and fitness. She played in the 2012 Constellation Cup and 2012 Netball Quad Series, earning three caps. Cathrine Latu
Cathrine Tuivaiti (née Latu; born 25 October 1986) is a netball international who has played for Samoa, New Zealand and Tonga. She represented Samoa at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 World Netball Championships, New Zealand at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Tonga at the 2023 Netball World Cup. During the National Bank Cup era, she played for Northern Force. During the ANZ Championship era, she played for Northern Mystics. She subsequently played for Central Pulse, Adelaide Thunderbirds, Strathclyde Sirens and Severn Stars. In 2022, she was included on a list of the 25 best players to feature in netball leagues in New Zealand since 1998. Joline Henry
Joline Henry (born 29 September 1982 in Whanganui, New Zealand) is a New Zealand former netball player. Henry was a member of the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns, and has played for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic (2008–2009) and the Northern Mystics (2010–2011) in the ANZ Championship. Kayla Cullen
Kayla Malvina Johnson (née Cullen, born 13 February 1992) is a New Zealand netball player. As a high school student, Cullen played representative netball and basketball, and competed at a national level in athletics. In 2008, she was selected in the New Zealand U21 netball team, and was a member of the side that finished second at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships, behind Australia. At the end of 2009, Cullen was signed to play with the Northern Mystics in the ANZ Championship, starting from 2010. Cullen played five matches in her debut season, and was nominated for the competition's Best Young Player award. Larrissa Willcox
Larrissa Willcox (born 27 November 1982) is a New Zealand netball player. She played for the West Coast Fever in the 2008 ANZ Championship season, having played for the same team in Australia's Commonwealth Bank Trophy from 2002 to 2007, when the team was known as the Perth Orioles. In 2009, she switched to New Zealand franchise the Canterbury Tactix, and that same year made her debut for the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns. Sulu Fitzpatrick (born 20 August 1992), also known as Sulu Tone-Fitzpatrick, is a former List of New Zealand international netball players, New Zealand netball international. Canterbury Tactix
Mainland Tactix are a New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury. Between 1998 and 2007, as Canterbury Flames, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Between 2008 and 2012 they were known as Canterbury Tactix. However, after Netball Mainland was established in October 2012, the team subsequently adopted their current name. Netball Mainland is the governing body that represents the South Island regions of Canterbury, West Coast, Nelson and Marlborough. Finau Pulu (born 1987 in the United States) is a New Zealand netball player of Pacific Islander descent.
