2011 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour
The 2011 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour was the seventh season of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour (WSMT). It began with the Spring Classic 150 at Caraway Speedway on March 13. It ended with the Caraway 150 at the same track on October 22. Burt Myers entered the season as the defending championship. George Brunnhoelzl III would win his second championship in the series, 181 points ahead of series runner up Andy Seuss. Whelen Southern Modified Tour
The Southern Modified Auto Racing Teams (SMART) Tour is a Modified stock car racing series racing in the Southeastern United States, Southeastern region of The United States. The series began in 1989, NASCAR took over the series in 2005. During its time as a NASCAR sanctioned series it followed identical regulations to the Northern NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The series merged with the Northern Modified Tour in 2017 bringing an end to the series after almost 30 years. The series came back in late 2020 without NASCAR sanction under the SMART Tour name and ran its first full season since 2004 in 2021 with the likes of Bobby Labonte and Ryan Preece competing. Patrick Emerling
Patrick W. Emerling (born September 19, 1992) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, driving the No. 1 Chevrolet for Rick Gautreau, part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 07 Chevrolet SS for SS-Green Light Racing, and part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the No. 75 and No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado RST for Henderson Motorsports and Spire Motorsports respectively. Racing career Emerling began racing in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2011. He drove the No. 07 Chevrolet/Ford for his team. He ultimately finished 13th in the points standings. He is the father of Carson Loftin, who currently competes part-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. In a motorsports race, the pole position is usually the best and "statistically the most advantageous" starting position on the track. The pole position is usually earned by the driver with the best qualifying times in the trials before the race, although penalties may award it to the second fastest driver, as the pole position is statistically awarded to the driver starting in first position. Hudson is a town in Caldwell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,776 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hickory– Lenoir– Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area.
