2011 MuchMusic Video Awards
The 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at MuchMusic's headquarters on June 19, 2011. The awards were aired on MuchMusic, CP24, E!, MuchHD and Fuse. Along with the MuchMusic VJ's, it was confirmed on the MuchMusic website that Selena Gomez will host the show. Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber tied for the most awards won with 2 each. Winners and nominees Nominees for the People's Choice awards were announced in early May 2011. One "wildcard" nominee will be chosen in each of the "UR Fave" award categories (as voted by the Much Music viewers). Blake McGrath
Blake James McGrath (born November 21, 1983) is a Canadian professional dancer, pop singer, actor, model, and choreographer. He was known for being on the first season of ''So You Think You Can Dance'' in 2005, and on the MTV reality dance show '' DanceLife''. He has also developed a solo singing career with a debut album '' Time to Move'' in 2010. Early career McGrath was born in Mississauga, Ontario. He attended Cawthra Park Secondary School, School of the Arts and Applewood Heights Secondary School in Mississauga as well as St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario. Ahmad Balshe ( ar, أحمد بلوشي) (born 7 April 1984), known professionally as Belly, is a Palestinian-Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Jenin, Balshe was raised in Ottawa. At twenty-one years old, he moved on to his main love hip-hop with the release of his debut mixtape, ''Death Before Dishonor: Vol. 1''. Dragonette
Dragonette is the stage name of Canadian singer-songwriter Martina Sorbara. Originally an electronic music band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 2005, the band consisted of Sorbara with her husband Dan Kurtz as bassist and producer (also in The New Deal) and drummer Joel Stouffer. Dragonette released a self-titled EP in 2005 before being signed to Mercury Records and relocating to London, where they recorded and released their debut studio album, '' Galore'', in August 2007 to moderate critical appreciation. Ryan Gary Raddon (born February 25, 1971), better known by his stage name Kaskade, is an American DJ, record producer and remixer. ''DJ Times'' voted Kaskade "America's Best DJ" in 2011 and 2013. ''DJ Mag'' named Kaskade fifty-first on its 2009 list of Top 100 DJs. Early life Born in Chicago, Kaskade grew up in nearby Northbrook and attended Glenbrook North High School. Daniel Victor (born September 20, 1979) is a Canadian recording artist and producer from Windsor, Ontario, best known for the collaborative music project Neverending White Lights, which features instrumentation performed mostly by Victor, with guest singers providing vocals for most of the songs. Early life Victor was born in Canada to an Italian father and Argentinian mother, and raised in southern Ontario. His father was a musician and performer, and exposed him to music from an early age. Jonathan Matthew Poirier, better known by his stage name JDiggz, is a Canadian hip hop MC and producer of Guyanese and French Canadian descent. He is also one half of the StarBwoyz production Team. These Kids Wear Crowns is a six-member Canadian power pop and pop-rock band, formed in 2009 in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. They were "discovered" on MuchMusic's '' disBand'' and signed to a contract with Capitol Records/ EMI. Broken Social Scene is a Canadian indie rock band, a musical collective including as few as six and as many as nineteen members, formed by Kevin Drew (vocals, guitar) and Brendan Canning (vocals, bass) in 1999.
