2011 M-1 Challenge Season
The 2011 M-1 Challenge season was the fourth season of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting presented by the M-1 Global promotion. The season began on March 5. Events M-1 Challenge XXIII: Grishin vs. Guram The first M-1 Challenge event of 2011 took place on March 5, 2011, at the Crocus City in Moscow, Russia. M-1 Global (Mixfight-1) or MMA-1 (Mixed martial arts-1) is a mixed martial arts promotion based in St. Petersburg, Russia which organizes between 10 and 20 competitions per year. It hosted its first major show (rather than co-promoting with other organizations) entitled M-1 Global Presents Breakthrough on August 28, 2009 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. Colton Smith (fighter)
Colton Smith (born August 14, 1987) is an American former mixed martial artist who competed in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Smith is best known for competing on, and winning The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson. His dominant wrestling style allowed him to defeat all five fighters he faced in the tournament by decision. He is currently an active member of the U.S. Army. Luigi Fioravanti (born January 22, 1981) is an American mixed martial artist who last competed in 2016. A professional since 2004, he is perhaps best known for competing in the UFC, but has also fought for M-1 Global and the Maximum Fighting Championship. Background Fioravanti grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, attending Pinellas Park High School, where he participated in wrestling, winning a district title, while also practicing judo.
