2011 Hypo-Meeting
The 37th edition of the annual Hypo-Meeting took place on May 28 and May 29, 2011 in Götzis, Austria. The track and field competition, featuring a men's decathlon and a women's heptathlon event was part of the 2011 IAAF World Combined Events Challenge. Trey Hardee and Jessica Ennis led the men's and women's competition, respectively, after the first day. Hypo-Meeting
The Hypo-Meeting is an annual athletics competition that takes place in the Mösle stadium in Götzis in Vorarlberg (Austria) held in the spring (late May, early June). In its history, a total of three world records have been set: 1980 and 1982 by Daley Thompson (8648 and 8730 points), and 2001 by Roman Šebrle (9026 points). Organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), it is one of the athletics meetings that make up the IAAF Combined Events Challenge. Male and female athletes compete in the decathlon or heptathlon A heptathlon is a track and field combined events contest made up of seven events. Yunior Díaz Zayas (born 28 April 1987 in Sancti Spíritus) is a Cuban track and field athlete who specialises in the decathlon and long jump. He represented Cuba at the 2008 Summer Olympics and also at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. He won the silver medal at the 2009 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics. Career His first success as a junior athlete came at the 2005 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships where he won the silver medal. Díaz emerged as one of a talented trio of Cuban male decathletes along with Leonel Suárez and Yordanis García. Robert Jacob "Jake" Arnold (born January 3, 1984, in Santa Rosa, California) is a decathlete from the United States. He represented the United States in the decathlon at the 2007 and 2009 World Championships ranking 13th and 24th respectively. He became the first athlete to win back-to-back NCAA decathlon titles in over twenty years after winning the event in both 2006 and 2007. His personal best in the decathlon is 8253 points, while his indoor heptathlon best is 5909 points. Darius Draudvila (born 29 March 1983) is a Lithuanian decathlon and heptathlon track and field athlete, who internationally competes for Lithuania, but lives in the United States. During studies in USA, Darius represented Kansas State track & field team and his personal best in decathlon take 4th place in Kansas State team's history. In 2008 Draudvila set a national heptathlon record. His personal best is 8032 points, which he achieved in 2010 at the European Championships in Barcelona.
