2011 Historic Formula One Championship
The 2011 Historic Formula One Championship (also known as Thoroughbred Grand Prix) was the seventeenth season of the Historic Formula One Championship. It began at Hockenheim on April 17 and ended at Jarama on October 30. It was won by John Delane from The United States driving a Tyrrell 002 despite not winning any of the ten races. Historic Formula One Championship
The Historic Formula One Championship, previously known as the Thoroughbred Grand Prix Championship, was a championship for Formula One cars from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s which is sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile. The Surtees TS16 was a Formula One car used by Surtees during the 1974, 1975 and 1976 Formula One seasons. It was designed by John Surtees. Racing history 1974–1975: Surtees The first race of the 1974 season was the 1974 Argentine Grand Prix. Surtees entered two cars for Brazilian José Carlos Pace and German Jochen Mass but both drivers retired, Pace with suspension failure and Mass with engine failure. The Wolf WR1 was a Formula One car built for the 1977 season by the Walter Wolf Racing team. Four examples of the car were produced. The first, completed well before the start of the season, was the WR1. Another two identical cars were built: WR2, finished ahead of the first race; and WR3, ready in March 1977. Brabham BT49
The Brabham BT49 is a Formula One racing car designed by South African Gordon Murray for the British Brabham team. The BT49 competed in the to Formula One World Championships and was used by Brazilian driver Nelson Piquet to win his first World Championship in . The car was initially designed in 1979 as a short notice replacement for the team's Alfa Romeo-engined BT48, after Brabham team owner Bernie Ecclestone decided to end his relationship with the Italian engine manufacturer. The BT49 was created in only six weeks using elements of the BT48 chassis together with the widely used Cosworth DFV engine. The monocoque chassis is made from aluminium alloy and carbon fibre composites. The car was fitted with controversial hydropneumatic suspension and water-cooled brakes at different points in its life. Joaquin Folch
The Folch Collection was known during the period 1960-1980 as one of the best private mineral collections in the world. It was famous for its size (over 15,000 specimens), the quality of the pieces, the large number of classic specimens, which are now almost impossible to obtain, and the style of the collection, which is surprisingly 'modern'. Mr. Joaquín Folch i Girona collected during a period when the style of most mineral collectors in Europe consisted of gathering large specimens of rare minerals, and in which esthetics and perfection were not that important. He actually tended to collect smaller specimens that were esthetic, and, where possible, damage free. Williams Grand Prix Engineering Limited, currently racing in Formula One as Williams Racing, is a British Formula One motor racing team and constructor. It was founded by former team owner Frank Williams and automotive engineer Patrick Head. The team was formed in after Frank Williams' earlier unsuccessful F1 operation: Frank Williams Racing Cars (which later became Wolf–Williams Racing in 1976). Brendon John Cook (born 27 December 1970) is a former race driver who raced mainly in Australia, but also in Europe. Career Open wheelers Cook began racing at the age of 16 in Karts, where he won club titles, and then moved into Formula Ford in Britain. Robert Christopher Austin (born 1 February 1981) is a British racing driver who formerly competed in the British Touring Car Championship. He was born in Evesham, Worcestershire. Racing career Formula 3 His career started in British Formula Renault in 1998, where he raced until 1999. An accident put him out of racing for the 2000 season, but he returned in British Formula 3 for Alain Menu's team in 2001, where he raced until 2004.
