2011 Caribbean Series
The fifty-third edition of the Caribbean Series (''Serie del Caribe'') was played in 2011. It was held from February 2 through February 7 with the champions teams from Dominican Republic (Toros del Este), Mexico ( Yaquis de Obregón), Puerto Rico ( Criollos de Caguas) and Venezuela (Caribes de Anzoátegui). The format consisted of twelve games, in a '' double round-robin'' format with each team facing each other twice. The games were played at Isidoro García Stadium in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The 2011 Caribbean Series was dedicated to Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, as part of the annual tournament's events. In addition to having the Series dedicated to him, the organizing committee of the series announced that Alomar would be inducted into the Caribbean Series Hall of Fame, along with fellow countrymen and former big leaguers Carlos Baerga, Luis de León and Candy Maldonado. Luis Antonio DeLeón Tricoche (born August 19, 1958) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched all or parts of seven seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) between and . He was the co- closer for the San Diego Padres in and , sharing the role with Gary Lucas. DeLeón pitched 206 games over the first six seasons of his career, all in relief. He made his first and only start in his last career appearance, which was also his only major league appearance in 1989. Willie Collazo
William Collazo (born November 7, 1979) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball pitcher. During the 2007 season, he appeared in six games for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). Since 2016, Collazo has worked as a minor league pitching coach in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Collazo graduated from Florida International University, where he went 13–1 as a senior and helped his team to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship tournament. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th round of the 2001 Major League Baseball draft. Collazo played for the Braves, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Mets organizations. Seth Michael Etherton (born October 17, 1976) is an American baseball coach and former pitcher. He was a former pitching coach for the USC Trojans. He played college baseball at USC from 1995 to 1998. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 4 seasons, with his longest tenure as a player coming with the Anaheim Angels. Etherton was born in Laguna Beach, California. He attended Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, California.
