2010–11 Skeleton World Cup
The 2010–11 Skeleton World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for bob skeleton. The season started on 25 November 2010 in Whistler, British Columbia, Whistler, Canada, and ended on 4 February 2011 in Cesana Pariol, Cesana, Italy. The World Cup was organised by the FIBT who also ran world cups and championships in bobsleigh. This season was sponsored by Viessmann. Calendar Below is the schedule of the 2010/11 season. Martins Dukurs
Martins Dukurs (born 31 March 1984) is a former Latvian skeleton racer, currently a coach, who has competed since 1998. He is a six-time world champion in men's skeleton, a double Olympic silver winner (at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014), and the athlete with the most World Cup titles with a total of 11, having won eight consecutive titles between 2010 and 2017, plus another three consecutive titles between 2020 and 2022. Career Dukurs finished seventh in the men's skeleton event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and sixth in the men's skeleton event at the 2007 FIBT World Championships in St. Moritz. He won the gold medal in the men's event at the 2011 FIBT World Championships, 2012 FIBT World Championships, 2015 FIBT World Championships, 2016 FIBT World Championships and 2017 FIBT World Championships. Kristan Bromley
Kristan Bromley (born 7 March 1972) is a retired British skeleton racer who has competed since 1996. He won the gold medal in the men's event at the 2008 FIBT World Championships in Altenberg, Germany. This was Great Britain's first gold medal at the FIBT World Championships since 1965. Competing in four Winter Olympics, Bromley's best finish was fifth in the men's skeleton event at Turin in 2006. He has twice won the men's overall Skeleton World Cup title (2003-4, 2007-08). In 2008 he became the first man in history to win the World Championship, European Championship and World Cup in the same season. In September 2015 Bromley announced his retirement from the sport. The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) is the international sports federation for the sliding sports of Bobsleigh and Skeleton. It was founded on 23 November 1923 by the delegates of Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States at the meeting of their first International Congress in Paris, France. In June 2015, it announced a name change from FIBT to IBSF. The federation's headquarters are in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IBSF works closely with the IOC to conduct Winter Olympics every four years. Along with the Winter Olympics, the IBSF hosts World Championships the other three years. The races are hosted on tracks in North America, Europe, and Asia. Shelley Rudman
Shelley Rudman (born 23 March 1981) is a Skeleton (sport), skeleton bobsleigh, bobsleigh athlete who was the 2013 world champion in the event. She won a silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics, and is a former World Cup and European champion. Early life and education Rudman was born in Swindon, and later lived in Pewsey, Wiltshire, where she attended Pewsey Vale School. She later attended New College, Swindon. She took up skeleton in October 2002, after a university friend and skeleton athlete introduced her to the sport at the University of Bath push track. Mellisa Hollingsworth (born October 4, 1980) is a retired Canadian athlete who competed from 1995 to 2014. She won the bronze medal in the women's skeleton event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Tomass Dukurs
Tomass Dukurs (born 2 July 1981 in Riga) is a Latvian skeleton racer who has competed since 1998. Competing in three Winter Olympics, he finished fourth in the men's skeleton event at Vancouver in 2010 and Sochi in 2014. Career Dukurs' best finish at the FIBT World Championships was 3rd in the men's skeleton event at Winterberg in 2015. His younger brother Martins is also a skeleton racer. Both he and his brother made the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2014 Winter Olympics. Ben Sandford (born 12 March 1979 in Rotorua) is a New Zealand skeleton racer who has competed since 2002. He finished tenth in the men's skeleton event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. He finished 11th at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Early life Sandford was born and raised in Rotorua, attending Rotorua Boys' High School.
