Qatari 2nd Division
The Qatari Second Division ( ar, دوري الدرجة الثانية القطري), QSD or Second Division League, also was known as Qatargas League due to sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of football league competition in Qatar. Contested by 8 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatar Stars League (QSL). Seasons of the QSD run from September to April. The league's first season was played in 1979 which was won by Al-Ittihad. The club with the most QSD wins is Al-Markhiya which has won 5 QSD titles The league currently features 8 clubs, with one club being promoted to make room for one club being relegated. Muaither SC ( ar, نادي معيذر الرياضي) is a multi-sports club based in Muaither, Qatar. It is best known for its football department, which plays in the Qatari Second Division. History 1996–2013: Second division The club was founded in 1996 as "Al Shabab". It changed its name to "Al Muaither" in 2004 by decision of the Qatar Olympic Committee. They played exclusively in the Qatari Second Division until 2013. Their first promotion play-off was in the 1999–00 season against Qatar SC. In 2004, Muaither became the first team in history from the second division to win the Sheikh Jassem Cup. They defeated Al-Wakrah SC 2–1 in the final. The 2010-11 Qatari League or Qatari Stars League season was the 38th edition of the top level football championship in Qatar and started in September. Teams Al-Shamal were relegated to the second-level league after finishing bottom in the 2009–10 Qatar Stars League campaign. Al-Sailiya survived the drop after winning the end of season relegation/promotion playoff against Al-Mesaimeer Lekhwiya were promoted as the 2nd level champions under there former name of Al-Shorta Doha or locally known as the Internal Security Forces (ISF). Ahmad bin Ali Stadium (), popularly known as the Al-Rayyan Stadium, is an association football stadium located in the district of Rawdat Al Jahhaniya, Qatar, around northwest from the centre of Al Rayyan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it is the home to Al-Rayyan Sports Club and Al-Kharitiyath Sports Club.
