The 2010–11 Ghanaian Premier League (''known as the Glo Premier League for sponsorship reasons'') season was the 52nd season of top-tier football in Ghana. The competition began on 5 September 2010, and ended on 5 June 2011. Berekum, nicknamed "The Golden City", is a city and the capital of Berekum East Municipal in the Bono Region of Ghana. The city has a population of 62,364 as of 2012. The native language of the Berekum people is the Bono Twi. As of 2020, the '' Omanhene'' of the city is Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II. History Based on oral tradition, there were three Akan people groups who originally migrated and settled in the area (now known as Berekum). The first branch to arrive, known as the Awasu people, are said to be migrants from Denkyira (now residing in Biadan). The second branch also originated from Denkyira, now residing in Abi ( from Berekum). The last branch were Gyaman soldiers from Asokore. After the Gyamans were defeated by the Asante army, some of the soldiers escaped west to Côte d'Ivoire. Sunyani () is a city and the capital of the Sunyani Municipal District and the Bono Region of Ghana. The city is located about northwest of Kumasi and away from Accra. It is the sixth largest city in the country as of the 2010 census, with a population of 75,366 people. Berekum Arsenal Football Club is a Ghanaian football club based in Berekum in the Bono region of Ghana, about 30 minutes drive west from Sunyani. Founded in 1995, They are currently members of the Division One League. CAF Cup In 2006, the club qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup but they were eliminated when they met Petro Atletico in the second round. Berekum United Football Club is a Ghanaian professional football club based in Berekum, Bono Region, previously known as Bechem Chelsea Football Club. Ashanti Gold Sporting Club popularly known as AshGold is a Ghanaian football team based in the gold mining town of Obuasi, south of Kumasi the capital of Ashanti Region. History Ashanti Gold SC was founded in 1978 by a group of employees of the Ashanti Goldfields Corporation under the name of Goldfields Sporting Club famously known as Obuasi Goldfields. The employees pleaded with management of AGC to sponsor the team, but they were always refused.
