2010–11 Bobsleigh World Cup
The 2010–11 Bobsleigh World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for bobsleigh. The season started on 22 November 2010 in Whistler, Canada and ended on 27 January 2011 in Königssee, Germany. The World Cup was organised by the FIBT who also run World Cups and Championships in skeleton. This season was sponsored by Viessmann. Calendar Below is the schedule of the 2010/11 season. Results Two-man ;Notes *Note 1: Patrice Servelle's silver medal in the Calgary World Cup race was Monaco's first ever World Cup medal. Four-man Two-woman ;Notes *Note 1: The women's bobsleigh World Cup race scheduled for 10 December in Park City was cancelled due to blowing snow which prevented the timing eyes from working correctly. It was made up on 17 December in Lake Placid. Manuel Machata
Manuel Machata (born 18 April 1984) is a German former bobsledder who competed from 2005 to 2015. Manuel Machata grew up in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden, Germany. He attended the CJD Christophorus high school in Berchtesgaden. After completing high school he joined the sports group of the German army (Bundeswehr). He became German Junior Champion in both two and four-man and Junior World Champion in four-man bobsled in 2006. Machata started regularly at the European Cup since November 2006 where he won the 2006 and 2007 cups at Königssee and 2007 the four-man in Igls. He was behind Thomas Florschütz in both two-man and four-man at Königssee 2007 and third in the 2008 two-man championships in Altenberg. He reached second place at the Junior World Championship 2009 at Königssee in both two and four-man bobsled. Cesana Pariol
Cesana Pariol was the venue for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. The track, built for the games, is located in Cesana Torinese. The venue holds approximately 7,130 spectators, of whom 3,624 are seated. Construction details The track is constructed with about of ammonia refrigeration pipes to help form ice on the track for proper sliding. Numerous sensors located along the track ensure that the ice's thickness is kept between to keep the track properly smooth during competitions. History During construction of the track prior to the 2006 games, there was concern that the track would be completed in time for homologation. An archaeological find (a small part of a Roman ruins) during construction slowed progress until the remains were excavated (near the current Turn 11). The track was completed on end of 2004. Beat Hefti
Beat Hefti (born 3 February 1978) is a Swiss bobsledder who has competed since the late 1990s. Competing in four Winter Olympics, he has won a total of four Olympic medals. A gold medal in Sochi ( two-man, 2014), two bronze medals in Torino ( two-man and four-man, 2006) and another bronze medal in Salt Lake City ( two-man, 2002). Sergio Riva (born March 29, 1983) is an Italian bobsledder who has competed since 2007. He finished 17th in the two-man event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Simone Bertazzo (born 19 August 1982) is a retired Italian bobsledder and current bobsled coach who has competed since 2001. He won a bronze medal in the two-man event at the 2007 FIBT World Championships in St. Moritz. Dmitry Trunenkov
Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Trunenkov (; born 19 April 1984) is a Russian bobsledder who has competed since the early 2000s. Career He won the silver medal in the four-man event at the 2008 FIBT World Championships in Altenberg, Germany. He won a gold medal at the 2009 Bobsleigh European Championship in St. Moritz, Switzerland and three European silver medals, all in the four-man event. Trunenkov originally took up sprinting whilst at university before switching to bobsleigh at the age of 21. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Trunenkov crashed during the four-man event. Trunenkov has a degree in industrial and civil construction from Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Architecture and Construction, which became part of the Siberian Federal University in 2006. Lascelles Brown
Lascelles Brown (born October 12, 1974 in May Pen) is a Jamaican-born Canadian bobsledder who has competed for three countries since starting his career in 1999. Competing in three Winter Olympics, he is the first Jamaican-born athlete to win a Winter Olympic medal. Brown was a member of the Jamaica national bobsled team from 1999 to 2004, competing at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, as a brakeman for Winston Watt. The Jamaican duo set the track push record during those games. He continued training for bobsleigh at Calgary's Canada Olympic Park, where he met and married his wife Kara, a Canadian. As of 2011, they have three daughters and a son together. He applied for Canadian citizenship on July 28, 2005; it was awarded to him by special exemption just prior to the 2006 Winter Olympics, enabling him to compete for Canada at the games in Turin. Patrice Servelle
Patrice Servelle (born 20 July 1974, in Monaco) is a Monégasque Olympic bobsledder who has competed in the 2002, 2006, and the 2010 Winter Olympics. Servelle's placed 12th overall at the 2006 Winter Olympics, and was Monaco's flag bearer during the Opening Ceremony. He also finished the two-man Bobsleigh World Cup in second place, which was Monaco's first, and only World Cup medal.
