2010 WNBA Dispersal Draft
The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) held their fifth dispersal draft on December 14, 2009. This dispersal draft re-assigned players from the Sacramento Monarchs who folded in November 2009, prior to the start of the 2010 WNBA season. The remaining twelve active teams in the WNBA each selected one player from the 2009 Sacramento Monarchs season, 2009 Monarchs roster in the one-round draft. Teams drafted in inverse order of their 2009 regular season finish. All Monarchs players were available except for free agent, unrestricted free agents, Kara Lawson, Ticha Penicheiro, and Hamchetou Maiga-Ba. 2010 WNBA Season
The 2010 WNBA season was the 14th season of the Women's National Basketball Association. The regular season began with a televised (ESPN2) meeting between the defending champion Phoenix Mercury and the Los Angeles Sparks in Phoenix, Arizona on May 15. The Connecticut Sun hosted the 10th Annual All-Star Game which was broadcast live on ESPN on July 10. This year, it was a contest between Geno Auriemma's USA Basketball team and a single team of WNBA All-Stars. DeMya Walker
DeMya Chakheia Walker (born November 28, 1977) is a professional basketball player from the United States. High school Walker was born and grew up in Mount Holly, New Jersey, where she attended Rancocas Valley Regional High School and she set school records for career rebounds (851), rebound average per game (14.2 rpg), most rebounds in a game (29), most points in a season (675), and most career points (1,546). In her senior year, she was named to the 1995 All-American first team by ''Street & Smith's'' New Jersey High School "Female Athlete of the Year", and ''Parade Magazine'' All-America Second Team as a high school senior. The Seattle Storm are an American professional basketball team based in Seattle. The Storm compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member of the Western Conference (WNBA), Western Conference. Chelsea Newton
Chelsea Newton (born February 17, 1983) is an American women's college basketball coach, currently the associate head coach at Texas A&M. Newton served as an assistant coach at Rutgers University from 2010 to 2015 and at Georgia from 2015 to 2022. The Atlanta Dream are an American professional basketball team based in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Dream compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The team was founded for the 2008 WNBA season. The Tulsa Shock were a professional basketball team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, playing in the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was founded in Detroit, Michigan before the 1998 WNBA season began; the team moved to Tulsa before the 2010 season. Kristin Lynne Haynie (born June 17, 1983) is an American former basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and current head coach for the Central Michigan women's team. Early life Haynie was raised in Mason, Michigan. In high school, she played on the varsity team since her freshman year, and graduated from Mason High School in 2001. Laura Ashley Harper (born April 11, 1986) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head women's basketball coach at Towson University. She played professionally with the Sacramento Monarchs of the Women's National Basketball Association.
