2010 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2010 Speedway Grand Prix was the 65th edition of the official World Championship and the 16th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, deciding the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the tenth series under the promotion of Benfield Sports International, an IMG (company), IMG company. The series began on 24 April in Leszno and finished on 9 October in Bydgoszcz. The only rider to win more than one round, Tomasz Gollob claimed his first Speedway Grand Prix title after over a decade in the sport. Jarosław Hampel completed a Polish 1–2, claiming his first SGP win in 2010 Speedway Grand Prix of Denmark, Denmark ahead of Gollob. Reigning champion Jason Crump finished third in the standings; the tenth successive season in which Crump finished in the top three places. Tomasz Gollob
Tomasz Robert Gollob (; born 11 April 1971 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) is a former Polish motorcycle speedway rider. He appeared in every Speedway Grand Prix series between its inaugural season in 1995 and 2013. He earned 52 caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career summary Tomasz Gollob spent almost all of his career with hometown club Bydgoszcz until he moved to Unia Tarnów in 2004. He has won the Polish Individual Championship eight times (between 1992 and 2009) and the Polish Pairs Championship ten times. He has also won the Polish Grand Prix eight times in thirteen years. He clinched the Speedway World Championship in 2010 after securing the championship in Terenzano, Italy. Chris Holder
Christopher Robert Holder (born 24 September 1987 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian speedway rider, who was the 2012 World Speedway Champion. He is also five times Australian champion (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014. Career Holder won the Australian Under-21 Championship in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, in addition to finishing runner-up in the Under-21 World Championship in 2007 and 2008. He started racing in the United Kingdom with the Isle of Wight Islanders in 2006. Ullevi, sometimes known as Nya Ullevi (, ''New Ullevi''), is a multi-purpose stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden. Janusz Kołodziej (speedway Rider)
Janusz Kołodziej (born 27 May 1984 in Tarnów, Poland) is a Polish speedway rider who has ridden for the Polish national team and is a four times champion of Poland. Career Kołodziej rode in Britain for the Reading Racers in 2003 and from 2006 to 2007. In July 2018, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix. In 2019, he won his fourth Polish title, he had previously been the Polish champion in 2005, 2010 and 2013. In 2022, he was a member of the Polish team that won the inaugural European Team Speedway Championship. Alfred Smoczyk Stadium
Alfred Smoczyk Stadium () is a stadium in Leszno, Poland. It is currently used for speedway matches and is the home stadium of Unia Leszno. The stadium has a capacity of 16,700 people. The stadium is located on ''ulica Strzelecka 7''. History Alfred Smoczyk (1928–1950) was the first Polish speedway superstar. He successfully competed on Dutch tracks in the late 1940s, but died in a road accident in October 1950. He was the first Individual Polish Champion after World War II (in 1949). The year after his death in 1951, the Alfred Smoczyk Memorial event was first held and shortly afterwards in April 1952, plans were put into action to build a new speedway stadium. Lukáš Dryml (born 16 April 1981 in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from the Czech Republic. He earned 20 international caps for the Czech Republic national speedway team and represented his nation in the Speedway World Cup. Career Dryml and his older brother Aleš Dryml Jr. were introduced to speedway by their father Aleš Dryml Sr., who was a former international speedway rider. Dryml came to the British speedway leagues in 2000 when he and his brother Ales joined the Oxford Cheetahs for the 2002 Elite League speedway season. Grzegorz Walasek
Grzegorz Walasek (born 29 August 1976) is a Polish motorcycle speedway rider who has competed in the Speedway Grand Prix series and earned 15 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Born in Krosno Odrzańskie, Poland, Walasek began his senior career in 1993 with ZKŻ Zielona Góra, and won the Polish Under-21 Championship in 1997. In 2000, he began riding in the UK with Poole Pirates. In 2004, he won the senior Polish individual championship. He was part of the Polish team that won the Speedway World Cup in 2005 and 2007. Adrian Miedziński
Adrian Miedziński (born 20 August 1985 in Toruń, Poland) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He earned four international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Miedziński started riding in Poland during 2002 when he made his debut for KS Toruń, he would go on to ride 16 consecutive seasons of the club and all in the Ekstraliga. In between he made his British league debut for Eastbourne Eagles in 2004, won the Individual Speedway Junior Polish Championship (in 2005) and won the Team Speedway Junior World Championship (in 2006). Martin Smolinski
Martin Smolinski (born 6 December 1984) is a German motorcycle speedway rider. He is three-times world longtrack champion and eight times champion of Germany. Personal life Smolinski was born on 6 December 1984 in Munich, West Germany. He is of Polish descent through his paternal grandfather from Katowice. Career Smolinksi began riding in his natiove Germany for MSC Olching. He became the German junior champion in 2003 and after reaching the final 2003 Speedway Under-21 World Championship he signed for Coventry Bees in England. David John Watt (born 6 January 1978 in Townsville, Queensland) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Australia. He won the Queensland state championship in 2005 and was a member of the Australian team that finished second to Poland in the 2011 World Cup Final. Career summary Watt started his British speedway career in 2001 when he signed for the Isle of Wight Islanders in the Premier League. He rode as a substitute reserve rider for the Oxford Cheetahs in 2001 and 2002 and was therefore a member of the Elite League title winning team in 2001. Piotr Protasiewicz (born 25 January 1975 in Zielona Góra, Poland) is a Polish international speedway rider. He is a four times World team champion and earned 24 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Protasiewicz began his career riding for Falubaz Zielona Góra in 1991 where he would spend four seasons. He began to record some notable performances including reaching the finals of three Speedway Under-21 World Championship in 1993, 1995 and 1996. In the 1996 final he scored a perfect 15 point maximum to be crowned the World U21 champion. Tai Woffinden (born 10 August 1990) is a British speedway rider. He is a three-time World Champion (2013, 2015 and 2018). Early life Woffinden was born in Scunthorpe, the son of former speedway rider Rob Woffinden. Although born in the United Kingdom and competing as a British rider, Woffinden grew up in Perth, Western Australia after his parents Rob and Sue decided to move there in 1994. Career Woffinden began his career in junior speedway in Perth where he won the 2006 Western Australian Under-16 title, though he unfortunately missed riding in the Australian Under-16 Championship in Adelaide.
