2010 Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras Season
The 2010 season was the 96th season in Palmeiras's existence, and their 95th in Brazil's first division. Palmeiras also played the usual Campeonato Paulista, the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Sudamericana. Palmeiras started the campaign under management of Muricy Ramalho, who was dismissed on 18 February 2010 after some bad results. Manager Antônio Carlos Zago took over Palmeiras at the same day. On 18 May 2010, at exactly 3 months as the club's manager, Antônio Carlos Zago was dismissed after a discussion with Palmeiras's Direction office. After a small period without a permanent manager, Palmeiras squad was coached by interim Jorge Parraga. Diego de Souza Andrade (born 17 June 1985), is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Grêmio. The 2010 Copa do Brasil was the 22nd edition of the Copa do Brasil, starting on February 10 and ended on August 4. It was contested by 64 clubs, either qualified through their respective state championships (54) or by the CBF Rankings (10). Clubs that qualified for the 2010 Copa Libertadores did not take part because of scheduling conflicts. Format The competition is a single elimination knockout tournament featuring two-legged ties. In the first two rounds, if the away team wins the first match by 2 or more goals, it progresses straight to the next round avoiding the second leg. The Kings' Clash (in Portuguese Choque-Rei) is the name given to Palmeiras and São Paulo football rivalry matches. It is contested between two very big, classic football clubs. The derby dates back to 1930. Estádio Palestra Itália
The Palestra Itália Stadium ( pt, Estádio Palestra Itália), was a football stadium located in Barra Funda, São Paulo, standing on the site now occupied by the Allianz Parque stadium. It was the home ground of Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras from 1917 to 2010, and was also known as Parque Antártica after Companhia Antarctica de Bebidas, a beverages company from which Palmeiras acquired the property in 1920. In the past its capacity was listed as 35,000 spectators, however, even though its grandstands have been extended in the late 1990s, the stadium had 27,650 seats due to regulations enforcing improved safety and comfort, before was demolished in November 2010.
