2010 Marikina Local Elections
Local elections were held in Marikina on May 10, 2010 as part of that year's 2010 Philippine general election, Philippine general election. In this election, the mayoralty and vice mayoralty were contested, along with the sixteen seats in the city council and the Legislative districts of Marikina, city's two seats in the House of Representatives of the Philippines, House of Representatives. Vice Mayor Marion Andres was defeated by the Liberal Party (Philippines), Liberal representative from the second district Del de Guzman, Del De Guzman. Andres's running mate, Thaddeus Santos Jr. was also defeated in his race with Jose Fabian Cadiz being elected as vice mayor. Marikina's 1st Congressional District
Marikina's 1st congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in the city of Marikina. The district covers the southern Marikina barangays of Barangka, Calumpang, Industrial Valley Complex, Jesus de la Peña, Malanday, San Roque, Santa Elena, Santo Niño and Tañong. The district been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 2007. An amendment to the 1996 Marikina City Charter, passed in 2006, created the district from Marikina's at-large congressional district. Romeo "Ome" D. Candazo (June 18, 1952 – August 19, 2013) was a Filipino politician who served as the representative for Marikina's at-large district from 1992 to 2001. He was elected as an independent and later affiliated with the Liberal Party by the end of his tenure. Jose Fabian Imperial Cadiz, (January 11, 1961 – February 20, 2022) was a Filipino politician and physician who served as the vice mayor of Marikina from 2010 to 2019, under the mayoralties of Del de Guzman and Marcelino Teodoro. Before his vice mayoralty, he served as a member of the Marikina City Council. Early life and education Cadiz was born on January 11, 1961, in Naga, Camarines Sur. He attended the Naga Parochial School and later entered the Philippine Science High School for his secondary education. After finishing high school, Cadiz went on to attend the University of the Philippines, where he gained a bachelor's degree in biology.
