2010 Iowa Hawkeyes Football Team
The 2010 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the University of Iowa in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Hawkeyes, led by 12th year head coach Kirk Ferentz, were members of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa. The Hawkeyes finished the regular season 7–5 (4–4 Big Ten) and earned a trip to the Insight Bowl, where they faced the Missouri Tigers. The Hawkeyes won the game 27–24 and finished the season 8–5. Preseason Iowa came off of an 11–2 season in 2009, in which they finished with a victory over Georgia Tech in the 2010 Orange Bowl and a final ranking of No. 7 in both major polls. Kirk Ferentz
Kirk James Ferentz (born August 1, 1955) is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at the University of Iowa, a position he has held since the 1999 season. From 1990 to 1992, Ferentz was the head football coach at the University of Maine. He was also an assistant coach with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). Ferentz played college football as a linebacker at the University of Connecticut from 1974 to 1976. Since 2017, he has been the longest tenured FBS coach with one program. Ferentz is the all-time wins leader at Iowa. Playing career Ferentz played high school football at Upper St. Clair High School near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Marvin McNutt
Marvin McNutt, Jr. (born July 4, 1989) is an American former professional football wide receiver and current wide receivers coach at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he became the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns and yardage (single season & career). He was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL draft. McNutt was also the head coach of the Cedar Rapids Titans of the Indoor Football League (IFL) for the 2017 season, and the general manager in 2018. Early life Marvin was born to Anita and Marvin McNutt on the Fourth of July in 1989. McNutt attended Hazelwood Central High School (located in Florissant, Missouri), where he reports having a GPA of 3.2 and an ACT composite score of 20. Iowa–Iowa State Football Rivalry
The Iowa–Iowa State football rivalry is an American college football rivalry game between the Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes. The Cy–Hawk Trophy is awarded to the winner of the game. Conceived and created as a traveling trophy by the Greater Des Moines Athletic Club in 1976, the trophy was first presented to the winner by Iowa Governor Robert D. Ray in 1977. That game was the first meeting between the two since 1934. In the entire history of the rivalry, the game has never been contested anywhere beside Iowa City or Ames and alternates between the two respective campuses.
