Russia National Rugby League Team
The Russia national rugby league team, nicknamed ''The Bears'' (), represents Russia in international rugby league tournaments and other rugby league fixtures. The national team formed in 1991, with their first international against a few months later. The team, under the governance of the Russian Rugby League Federation gained observer status with the Rugby League International Federation in 1993, before being promoted to affiliate member ahead of the 2000 Rugby League World Cup and gaining full membership a three years later. In 2010, Russia was expelled for a series of rule breaches and readmitted under the Association of Rugby League Clubs, they regained full member status three years later. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Rugby League and European Rugby League suspended Russia's membership thus preventing them from competing in all international rugby league competitions. The Latvia national rugby league team was established in 2008 to represent Latvia at rugby league football. History Latvia initially competed in the European Bowl, for fourth-tier developing nations. They beat Estonia in a two-game series and therefore won the inaugural tournament after Ukraine could not gain visas to travel. In 2009 they finished in second place after losing to Ukraine and defeating Estonia. In 2010 they played in the European Shield, losing to Russia and Ukraine. In April 2015, the qualification process for the 2017 World Cup was announced. Serbia National Rugby League Team
The Serbia national rugby league team represents Serbia in the sport of rugby league football. They have competed in international competition since 2003 under the administration of the Serbian Rugby League. They are coached by Englishman Darren Fisher, and captained by Stevan Stevanović. History 1950s–1960s Rugby League was first played in Serbia in 1953 when it was introduced by Dragan Marsicevic, secretary of the Yugoslav Sport Association. Two French teams toured later that year, and in 1954 the clubs Partizan and Radnički were formed. These clubs played their first match on 26 April 1954. In 1961 a Yugoslav Rugby League team played its only game against a French Select XIII team in Banja Luka. The French team won 13–0. The Germany national rugby league team is the national rugby league team of Germany. History The captain of the national side is Brad Billsborough. Bob Doughton is head coach. The most capped player is Liam Doughton who has 24 Caps. As well as playing friendlies, the team currently competes in European Championship C. They also play against the Netherlands in the annual Griffin Cup. In October 2022, Germany won the 10th edition of the Griffin Cup, defeating the Netherlands 29-24.
