The 2010 BDO Classic Canadian Open was the third Grand Slam of Curling tournament of the 2009-10 curling season. It was held January 20-24 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. BDO Classic Canadian Open
The Canadian Open, known as the Co-Op Canadian Open for sponsorship reasons, is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament. It is one of the five Grand Slams and four "majors" on the men's and women's curling tours. A women's event was introduced in the 2014–15 curling season. In 2021, when it was supposed to be held outside of Canada for the first time, it was going to just be called the Open. However, the event was not held in 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, the event was named the Co-op Canadian open for sponsorship reasons. The event features 16 men's and women's teams. David Nedohin
David Nedohin (born December 20, 1973) is a Canadian curler. Nedohin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and now plays out of Sherwood Park, Alberta. He is best known as the longtime fourth for Randy Ferbey. Curling career Nedohin joined the Randy Ferbey rink in 1997 and was a part of that team's four Brier championships and three world championships. Nedohin is renowned for his shotmaking ability - especially for making difficult combination takeout shots. Nedohin had a shooting percentage of 96% in the final of the 2003 Nokia Brier, and 95% shooting percentage in the final of the 2005 Men's Ford World Curling Championships. The team, famously named The Ferbey Four, popularized the "fourth" shooting position. Because of Nedohin's shotmaking ability, he threw the last two stones in each end, or the ''skip rocks''. Glenn Howard
Glenn William Howard (born July 17, 1962) is a retired Canadian curler who is one of the most decorated curlers of all time. He has won four world championships, four Briers and 17 Ontario provincial championships, including a record eight straight, from 2006 to 2013. He has made 20 Brier appearances, playing in a total of 227 games, the third most of any curler. He has won a career 14 Grand Slams, won the 2001 TSN and 2013 Dominion All-Star Skin Games and the 2010 Canada Cup of Curling. He currently coaches his son Scott Howard's Ontario rink. Jamie Korab
Jamie A. Korab, ONL (born November 28, 1979, in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland) is a Canadian curler and politician. He was elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly for the Liberal Party in the 2024 Waterford Valley provincial by-election. Korab was the lead for the gold medal-winning Canadian men's team at the 2006 Winter Olympics skipped by Brad Gushue. Prior to provincial politics, Korab served on St. John's City Council representing Ward 3 from 2017 to 2024. Career Korab played in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships and three Briers before playing at the Olympics. At the 1997 Canadian Juniors, he played as a third for Randy Turpin. Ryan Fry
Ryan Bennett Fry (born July 25, 1978) is a Canadian retired curler currently living in Toronto. He most recently played third on the Mike McEwen team and coached the Rachel Homan team. He currently coaches the Joël Retornaz rink. He previously played third for Team Brad Jacobs, and the team represented Canada and won the gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The team also won the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier. Fry won a silver medal at the 2013 World Men's Curling Championship. Career Fry was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on July 25, 1978. Mark Nichols (curler)
Mark Nichols, ONL (born January 1, 1980) is a Canadian curler from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. He currently plays third for the Brad Gushue rink. Nichols is a former Olympic champion curler, having played third for Team Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where the team won a gold medal. He also won a World Championship with Gushue in 2017. Career Nichols was born in Labrador City, Newfoundland, the son of Gerry and Helen Nichols. Nichols began curling at the age of 3 in Labrador City. In 1995, he played for Newfoundland at the Canada Games, placing eighth. Between 1999 and 2011, Nichols lived in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, where he played third for the Brad Gushue rink. Brad Gushue
Bradley Raymond Gushue, ONL ( ; born June 16, 1980) is a Canadian curler from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Gushue, along with teammates Russ Howard, Mark Nichols, Jamie Korab and Mike Adam, represented Canada in curling at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where they won the gold medal by defeating Finland 10–4. He also represented Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where he won a bronze medal. In addition to the Olympics, Gushue won the 2017 World Men's Curling Championship with teammates Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant, and Geoff Walker. Beausejour, Manitoba
Beausejour () is a town in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is 46 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, just west of the Canadian Shield and Whiteshell Provincial Park. The French name means "beautiful stay". The town is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead. Etymology The current community name comes from the French phrase meaning "a good place" or "a good stopping place". There are a few variations as to the origin and establishment of the name, although all share similarities in being named by a railway employee. Jason Gunnlaugson is a Canadian curler currently living in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Gunnlaugson is known for having been hired by the Russian Curling Federation (RCF) to represent the country at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The deal which was announced in April 2010 fell through in November that year, when the Gunnlaugson team was fired by the RCF. Career Prior to his deal to play for Russia, Gunnlaugson had skipped his team out of Beausejour, Manitoba.
