2010 Algarve Cup
The 2010 Algarve Cup was the seventeenth edition of the Algarve Cup, an invitational women's football tournament held annually in Portugal. It took place between 24 February and 3 March 2010. It was won by the United States who defeated World and European champions Germany 3–2 in the final to extend their record of Algarve titles to seven. Sweden defeated China, 2-0, in the third prize game. Format The twelve invited teams were split into three groups that played a round-robin tournament. The main eight entrants were identical to the previous year. Group C featured two different sides with Romania and the Faroe Islands replacing Poland and Wales. Groups A and B, containing the strongest ranked teams, were the only ones in contention to win the title. Inka Grings (born 31 October 1978) is a German former international Association football, footballer who played as a striker (association football), striker. She played sixteen years for FCR 2001 Duisburg before joining FC Zürich Frauen. She also played for the Germany women's national football team, Germany national team. Parchal
Parchal is a town and a former civil parish in the municipality (''concelho'') of Lagoa, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Estômbar e Parchal. The population in 2011 was 4,019, in an area of 3.86 km2. It is situated in the northwest part of the Lagoa Municipality. The Estádio Algarve (') is an association football stadium located between Faro and Loulé municipalities, in the Algarve region of Portugal. The stadium has a total capacity of 30,305 spectators and was purposely built for the UEFA Euro 2004 championship. Kerstin Garefrekes (born 4 September 1979) is a German former footballer who played as a striker or midfielder. Club career Garefrekes began her career in 1986 at her local football club Grün-Weiß Steinbeck, before joining DJK Arminia Ibbenbüren. Martina Müller (born 18 April 1980) is a retired German footballer. She played as a striker for VfL Wolfsburg and the German national team. Club career Müller had played at several smaller clubs at youth level, before joining the reigning German champions FSV Frankfurt in 1998.
