2009–10 UCI Europe Tour
The 2009–10 UCI Europe Tour was the sixth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The season began on 18 October 2009 with the Chrono des Nations and ended on 17 October 2010 with the Chrono des Nations. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. Giovanni Visconti (cyclist), Giovanni Visconti of Italy was the defending champion of the 2008–09 UCI Europe Tour and was crowned as the 2009–10 UCI Europe Tour. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. The Challenge Vuelta Ciclista a Mallorca ( en, Tour of Majorca, ca, Challenge Volta Ciclista a Mallorca) is a series of four (five until 2012) professional one day road bicycle races held on the Spanish island of Mallorca in late January or early February. The event is used as an early season preparatory event by many of the top teams in readiness for the bigger races later in the season. The five races are ranked 1.1 on the UCI Europe Tour. Although the race styles itself as the "Tour of Majorca" it has never been allowed to be classed as a multi day stage race by the sports governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) because the race rules allows riders not to participate on certain days if they don't want to. However, there is an unofficial overall classification winner taken on total time over five days. Francesco Ginanni
Francesco Ginanni (born 6 October 1985 in Pistoia) is an Italian professional road bicycle racer for UCI Professional Continental team , after turning professional with in 2008. As an amateur, Ginanni won five races in 2006 and four races in 2007, including the Giro del Casentino, a 1.2 rated single-day race on the UCI Europe Tour. Ginanni's first professional victory came in the Gran Premio Industria e Commercio Artigianato Carnaghese in August 2008, which he followed up by winning the Tre Valli Varesine and Giro del Veneto, both races classified as 1.HC – the highest rating for single-day races on the UCI Europe Tour. The Trofeo Laigueglia is an early season road bicycle race held annually in Liguria, Italy. From 2005 to 2014, the race was organised as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. André Greipel (born 16 July 1982) is a German former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2002 and 2021. Since his retirement, Greipel now works as a directeur sportif for UCI Continental team . Born in Rostock, East Germany, Greipel competed as a pure sprinter and took 158 wins during his professional career.
