2009–10 Skeleton World Cup
The 2009–10 Skeleton World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for skeleton. The season started on 12 November 2009 in Park City, Utah, United States, and ended on 24 January 2010 in Igls, Austria (southeast of Innsbruck). The World Cup was organised by the FIBT who also run world cups and championships in bobsleigh Bobsleigh or bobsled is a winter sport in which teams of 2 to 4 athletes make timed speed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sleigh. Martins Dukurs
Martins Dukurs (born 31 March 1984) is a former Latvian skeleton racer, currently a coach, who has competed since 1998. He is a six-time world champion in men's skeleton, a double Olympic silver winner (at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014), and the athlete with the most World Cup titles with a total of 11, having won eight consecutive titles between 2010 and 2017, plus another three consecutive titles between 2020 and 2022. Career Dukurs finished seventh in the men's skeleton event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and sixth in the men's skeleton event at the 2007 FIBT World Championships in St. Moritz. The Königssee bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is a venue in Germany for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton (sport), skeleton, located in Schönau am Königssee, Bavaria, near Königssee (German for "King's Lake") and the border with Austria. Shelley Rudman (born 23 March 1981) is a Skeleton (sport), skeleton bobsleigh, bobsleigh athlete who was the 2013 world champion in the event. She won a silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics, and is a former World Cup and European champion. Early life and education Rudman was born in Swindon, and later lived in Pewsey, Wiltshire, where she attended Pewsey Vale School. She later attended New College, Swindon. Eric Bernotas AKA Dr. Gravity (born August 5, 1971) is an American former skeleton racer who has competed since 2002. He won three medals at the FIBT World Championships with two silvers (Men's skeleton: 2007, Mixed team: 2007) and a bronze (Mixed team: 2009). Early life and education Bernotas is from West Chester, Pennsylvania.
