Teams were divided into two brackets of four: the best team from each bracket qualified directly for the final, while the two next teams entered for the repechage round and the last was eliminated. The best two teams in the repechage round qualified for the final. Thus, the final consisted of four teams. Heerenveen
Heerenveen (, fry, It Hearrenfean ) is a town and municipality in the province of Friesland (Fryslân), in the Northern Netherlands. In 2021, the town had a population of 29,790 (1 January) while the municipality had a population 50,859 (1 July). Jordan Malone (born April 20, 1984) is an American short track speed skater who was a member of the US Olympic Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is from Denton, Texas, and is an alumnus of the Texas Tech University Independent School District. Jordan competed in the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. During one of the Olympic days, Malone got stuck in a bathroom and, later that same day, got stuck in an elevator. Kimberly Derrick (born April 28, 1985 in Blytheville, Arkansas) is an American short track speed skater. Biography Kimberly Derrick grew up on inline skates and, between the ages of 6 and 18, she dominated the women's inline world, winning and placing in numerous National Championships. At 18, Derrick switched to ice and took on the speedskating world with the same ferocity she did with inline competitions. As a member of the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team in Torino, Italy, Derrick realized her dream of making an Olympic team, and in September 2009, she earned a spot on the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team. During World Cup competition in the 2008-09 season, Derrick earned three medals in the 1000m, including a gold. She was also part of the ladies relay team that won the gold medal in Dresden, Germany - the first time the U.S. ladies have won gold in this event. Jessica Smith (born October 14, 1983) is an American long track speed skater and short track speed skater and former World Champion inline speed skater. As a young girl, Smith was involved in a variety of activities including ballet, modeling, roller skating, and ice hockey. She eventually settled on roller skating and made the United States' Junior World Inline Championships Team at age 12. She won 15 gold medals at the junior level before moving up the senior level at age 16. By 2007, Smith had collected 16 senior World Championships gold medals. After 2007, Smith switched to short track speed skating on the ice in hopes of making the Olympics. She made the US World Cup team each year from 2008–10.
