2009 Trail Appliances Curling Classic
The 2009 Trail Appliances Autumn Gold Curling Classic was held October 9–12 at the Calgary Curling Club in Calgary, Alberta. It was the first Grand Slam (curling), Grand Slam event of the 2009-10 Women's World Curling Tour. The total purse of the event is $56,000 and the winning team received $14,000. Jennifer Jones and her Winnipeg, Manitoba rink won their second title, and fifth Grand Slam title. They defeated the Chinese national team in the final. The Chinese team was the first non-Canadian team to make it to a Grand Slam final in any event, men'ts or women's. Ève Bélisle
Ève Bélisle (born September 14, 1979) is a Canadian curler from Montreal. She is a three-time Quebec Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion and two-time Quebec Mixed champion. Career Bélisle became one of the very few women to ever skip a team to the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in 2004. Her Quebec team finished the round robin of the 2005 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with a 4–7 record. The following year, Bélisle won her first women's provincial championships giving her the right to represent Team Quebec at the 2006 Scott Tournament of Hearts. At the Hearts, Bélisle finished the round robin with a 7–4 record putting her in the tiebreaker against Newfoundland and Labrador's Heather Strong. Corinne "Cori" Morris (born June 21, 1971 as Corinne Bartel) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She played lead for the Olympic silver medal-winning Cheryl Bernard rink from 2005 to 2011. Career Morris grew up in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. In 1998, Morris played in Ontario, and played in the provincial Scott Tournament of Hearts, as an alternate player for the Cheryl McBain team. She later moved to Alberta. Morris joined Bernard in 2005 after playing for Heather Rankin. She went to the 2007 and 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts as a member of that team. Carolyn Darbyshire
Carolyn Darbyshire-McRorie (born December 6, 1963) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She played second for Cheryl Bernard from 2005–2011. She is currently the coach of the New Zealand national men's team, skipped by Anton Hood. Career Darbyshire-McRorie joined Bernard's team in 2005 after playing for Renelle Bryden. She has since won two provincial championships as a member of the team (2007 and 2009). Darbyshire-McRorie played third for Heather Fowlie (Rankin) at the 2001 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, and finished with a 4–5 record. As a member of team Bernard, Darbyshire-McRorie once again made it to the trials in 2009. ''For the Australian archaeologist, see'' Sue O'Connor. Susan O'Connor (born May 3, 1977) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Calgary, Alberta. She is an Olympic silver medallist. She is the current coach of the Ashley Thevenot rink. Career In 2000, O'Connor played third for Kevin Koe at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. The team, which also included Greg Northcott and Lawnie MacDonald, won the championship. Cheryl Bernard
Cheryl Bernard (born June 30, 1966) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She represented Team Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics as the team's skip, winning the silver medal in women's curling after falling to Sweden in the final. Her first major tournament win came at the 2009 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Edmonton, Alberta.
