The 2009 San Marino CEPU Open was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor red clay courts. It was the twenty-first edition of the tournament which was part of the Tretorn SERIE+ of the 2009 ATP Challenger Tour. It took place in City of San Marino, San Marino between 3 and 9 August 2009. The City of San Marino (), also known simply as San Marino and locally as Città, is the capital city of the Republic of San Marino and one of its nine . It has a population of 4,061. Alberto Martín Magret (; born 20 August 1978) is a retired tennis player from Spain. He won three singles titles and reached five Masters Series quarterfinals on clay. Tennis career Martín turned professional in 1995. He won three singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 34 in June 2001. His best Grand Slam performance was reaching the fourth round of Roland Garros in 2006. Jean-Julien Rojer ( "John Julian" , ; born 25 August 1981) is a Dutch professional tennis player from Curaçao, who specializes in doubles. He reached his career-high doubles ranking of world No. 3 in November 2015. He is a four-time Grand Slam champion, having won 2015 Wimbledon and 2017 US Open with Horia Tecău, the 2022 French Open with Marcelo Arévalo in men's doubles, as well as the 2014 French Open in mixed doubles alongside Anna-Lena Grönefeld. Potito Starace
Potito Starace (; born 14 July 1981) is an Italian former professional tennis player on the ATP Tour. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world no. 27 on October 15, 2007. He was a clay court specialist, and was coached by Umberto Rianna. Starace was banned from tennis for life by the Italian Tennis Federation and by the Tennis Integrity Unit for betting offences. Career One of the most memorable runs of Starace's career was when he made the men's doubles semifinals of the 2012 French Open, partnering Daniele Bracciali, before succumbing to top seeds Daniel Nestor and Max Mirnyi. Lukáš Rosol (; born 24 July 1985) is a Czech former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking is world No. 26, achieved on 22 September 2014. His first notable victory was against world No. 8, Jürgen Melzer, at the 2011 French Open, whom he defeated in five sets in the second round a year after Melzer had reached the semifinal. Gastón Norberto Gaudio (; born 9 December 1978) is an Argentine former professional tennis player. He won eight singles titles and achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 5 in April 2005.
