2009 S.League
The 2009 S.League (officially known as the Great Eastern Life, Great-Eastern-Yeo's S.League for sponsorship reasons) was the 14th season since the establishment of the S.League. Singapore Armed Forces FC won their eighth S.League title. Changes to the league include: *Monthly claim of S$2,000 for the local clubs from the FAS if they sign a foreign player who is a newcomer to the S-League. * DPMM FC have replaced Dalian Shide Siwu FC, Dalian Shide Siwu in 2009 season. Teams Foreign players Each club is allowed to have up to a maximum of 4 foreign players. * Albirex Niigata (S) and Super Reds are not allowed to hire any foreigners. Warriors Football Club was a Singaporean professional football club based in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore, that played in the Singapore Premier League, the top division of football in Singapore. Before changing their name on 20 January 2013, they were previously known as the Singapore Armed Forces Football Club (SAFFC) since their establishment on 16 February 1996. Despite their name back then, not all players from the team came from the Armed Forces. Some were internationals and others were foreign. Dalian Shide Siwu Football Club () was a Chinese professional football club which was formed to play as a foreign team in Singapore's S.League in 2008. History The club was a satellite team of the Chinese Super League club Dalian Shide. Players from Dalian Shide's reserve and youth team made up the majority of its S.League squad. The team played their home games at the Queenstown Stadium. As part of a sponsorship deal with Trump Dragon Distillers, Dalian Shide's Singapore team took on the name Dalian Shide Siwu.
