2009 Nürburgring GP2 Series Round
The 2009 German GP2 round was the fifth round of the 2009 GP2 Series season. It was held on July 11 and July 12, 2009 at the Nürburgring in Nürburg, Germany. The race was used as a support race to the 2009 German Grand Prix. The race saw the return of the Nürburgring after the Hockenheimring hosted last year's event. Last year's feature race winner, Giorgio Pantano, did not take part. The sprint race winner Karun Chandhok did compete though. The weekend was dominated by Nico Hülkenberg, who took pole, won both races and got fastest lap for both races. He is only the second driver to complete this feat, after Nelson Piquet Jr. did so in 2006. Hülkenberg left his home country with the championship lead. Nürburgring
The is a 150,000 person capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984, and a long "North loop" track, built in the 1920s, around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. The north loop is long and contains more than of elevation change from its lowest to highest points. Jackie Stewart nicknamed the track "The Green Hell". Originally, the track featured four configurations: the -long ("Whole Course"), which in turn consisted of the ("North Loop") and the ("South Loop"). There was also a warm-up loop called ("Finish Loop") or ("Concrete Loop"), around the pit area. Giorgio Pantano
Giorgio Pantano (born 4 February 1979) is an Italian professional racing driver who drove for the Jordan Formula One team for much of the 2004 season before being replaced by Timo Glock. He also raced in Formula 3000. He retired from racing at the end of 2014. He raced in the GP2 Series from its inaugural year in 2005 until his championship campaign in 2008, holding the record for most races competed and most races won in the series. As of 2011, these records have been taken over by Luca Filippi (86 starts) and Pastor Maldonado (10 wins) respectively. 2010 German GP2 Round
The 2010 German GP2 round was a GP2 Series motor race held on July 24 and 25, 2010 at Hockenheimring in Hockenheim, Germany. It was the sixth round of the 2010 GP2 Season. The race was used to support the 2010 German Grand Prix. The round marked the return to Hockenheim after the Nürburgring held the previous year's event, due to the German Grand Prix rotation. Report Feature Race Pastor Maldonado extended his GP2 Series points lead by claiming his fourth victory of the season in the feature race at Hockenheim. The Rapax driver took the lead at the start when polesitter Charles Pic (Arden) was slow off the line, and aside from one lap during the pitstop cycle he led the entire race from there on. Addax's Sergio Pérez gave Maldonado some trouble during the first stint, but all of the Mexican's attempts to get past were easily defended. The 2009 Hungarian GP2 round was the sixth round of the 2009 GP2 Series season. It was held on July 25 and July 26, 2009 at Hungaroring in Mogyoród, Pest, Hungary. The race was used as a support race to the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix. Lucas di Grassi got his first ever pole position in GP2, despite being in the series for three years. Nico Hülkenberg won the first race, the German's third win in succession. Giedo van der Garde got the first points for iSport International since Spain with seventh, and followed that up with victory in the sprint race, his first victory in GP2. Hülkenberg left Hungary with 57 points, still in the lead of the championship. 2009 British GP2 Round
The 2009 British GP2 round was the fourth round of the 2009 GP2 Series season. It was held on 20 and 21 June 2009 at Silverstone Circuit at Silverstone, United Kingdom. The race was used as a support race to the 2009 British Grand Prix. Past Winners include 2008 champion Giorgio Pantano and runner up, Bruno Senna, who both did not compete this year. 2008 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton also won in 2006. Romain Grosjean started from Pole in the feature race, with Alberto Valerio taking a surprise second in his Piquet GP car. Both drivers got off the line well, but within five laps Valerio passed Grosjean for the lead. Grosjean continued to fall back and finished in fifth place. Super Nova Racing was a British racing team that has competed in Formula 3000 Formula 3000 (F3000) was a type of open wheel, single seater formula racing, occupying the tier immediately below Formula One and above Formula Three. Addax, or Barwa Addax was a Spanish motorsport team owned by the bank Addax Capital, which competed in the GP2, GP3 and GP2 Asia Series. Team history GP2 Series Barwa Addax was formed as a result of Alejandro Agag purchase of the Campos Racing GP2 team. Campos Racing was started by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos in 1998, and competed in the GP2 Series since its inaugural season in 2005. After the 2008 season, in which Campos won the teams' championship, he elected to step down and pass control of the GP2 team to Agag, a businessman with motorsport interests. Lucas Di Grassi
Lucas Tucci di Grassi (born 11 August 1984) is a Brazilian professional racing driver who competes in the FIA Formula E World Championship for Mahindra Racing. He became the FIA Formula E Champion in 2016–2017, achieved three overall podiums at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and won the Macau Grand Prix in 2005. Born in São Paulo, di Grassi began racing karts at the age of ten, and achieved early success in the regional and later national kart series. He progressed to car racing in 2002 and was the runner up in the Formula Renault 2.0 Brazil and Formula 3 Sudamericana championships. Pastor Rafael Maldonado Motta (; born 9 March 1985) is a Venezuelan professional racing driver, who competed in Formula One for the Williams (2011–2013) and Lotus (2014–2015) teams and as a Pirelli test driver until 2017.
