2009 Miami Hurricanes Football Team
The 2009 Miami Hurricanes football team represented the University of Miami during the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. It was the Hurricanes' 84th season of football and 6th as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hurricanes were led by third-year head coach Randy Shannon and played their home games at Land Shark Stadium. They finished the season 9–4 overall and 5–3 in the ACC to finish in third place in the Coastal Division. They were invited to the Champs Sports Bowl where they lost to Wisconsin, 20-14. Randy Shannon
Randy Leonard Shannon (born February 24, 1966) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator for the Florida State Seminoles football program. Shannon was the head coach at the University of Miami from 2007 to 2010 and has served as an assistant coach for the National Football League's Miami Dolphins and several college teams, including stints as the defensive coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes, the Florida Gators, and the UCF Knights. He won the Frank Broyles Award as the nation's top collegiate assistant coach while at Miami in 2001. Shannon was born and raised in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Florida State–Miami Football Rivalry
The Florida State–Miami football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Florida State Seminoles football team of Florida State University and Miami Hurricanes football team of the University of Miami. Since the late 1980s, one or both squads have been highly ranked entering the game, adding national championship implications to an already heated rivalry. 2009 Florida State Seminoles Football Team
The 2009 Florida State Seminoles football team represented Florida State University during the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team played their home games at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. They were members of the Atlantic Coast Conference ACC). Head coach Bobby Bowden retired at the end of the 2009 season after 34 seasons at the helm for Florida State and 33 consecutive winning seasons. Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher was named his successor. Previous season Florida State entered the 2009 season coming off a 2008 season that ended with a 9–4 record (5–3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference) and a Champs Sports Bowl victory over Wisconsin. Brandon Washington (born August 13, 1988) is a former American football offensive tackle and current coach. He has played for the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL), the St. Louis Rams and Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). Lamar Miller
Lamar N. Miller (born April 25, 1991) is an American football running back who is a free agent. He played college football at the University of Miami and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Washington Football Team, and New Orleans Saints. Aravious "Ray-Ray" Armstrong (born March 5, 1991) is an American football linebacker who is a free agent. He played college football at the University of Miami from 2009 to 2012. He was signed by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent. Early years Armstrong attended Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. He played both quarterback and safety. As a senior, he led Seminole to the 2008 FHSAA Class 6A state championship over Teddy Bridgewater's Miami Northwestern. Jimmy Graham (born November 24, 1986) is an American football tight end who is a free agent. He played only one year of college football at University of Miami after playing four years of basketball. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Graham has also been a member of the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. Dedrick Epps (born June 19, 1988) is a former American football tight end. He was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the seventh round, 253rd overall in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football for the University of Miami. He was also a member of the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, and New York Jets.
