2009 Købstædernes ATP Challenger
The 2009 Købstædernes ATP Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the fifth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2009 ATP Challenger Tour. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a type of surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. The ball tends to bounce high and players are able to apply many types of spin during play. Andreas Haider-Maurer
Andreas Haider-Maurer (; born 22 March 1987) is a retired professional tennis player from Austria. In the first round of the 2010 US Open, he forced world No. 5 Robin Söderling to a fifth set before losing the match. That same year, Haider-Maurer reached the final of his home tournament in Vienna. He lost to compatriot, defending champion and top seed Jürgen Melzer. In late 2015, Haider-Maurer suffered a right heel injury and it eventually turned out that he missed the whole 2016 season. He retired in January 2019 after 3 years of injury problems. Haider-Maurer won 9 Challenger events and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 47 in April 2015. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi ( Punjabi, ; born 17 Mar 1980) is a Pakistani professional tennis player who specialises in doubles. He is the only Pakistani player ever to reach a Grand Slam final, having done so in both men's and mixed doubles at the 2010 US Open, alongside Rohan Bopanna and Květa Peschke respectively. Qureshi has also reached seven further major semifinals across the two disciplines. He reached his career-high doubles ranking of world No. 8 in June 2011, and has won 18 titles on the ATP Tour, including the 2011 Paris Masters and 2013 Miami Open, with Bopanna and Jean-Julien Rojer respectively. Qureshi has also qualified for the ATP Finals in doubles on three occasions. Jonathan Marray
Jonathan Marray (born 10 March 1981) is a former British tennis player and a 2012 Wimbledon Championships – Men's doubles, Wimbledon Men's Doubles champion. Marray is a former top 20 doubles (tennis), doubles player, reaching a career high of world no. 15 in January 2013, mainly due to more regular appearances on the ATP World Tour, following his victory at Wimbledon 2012. He has also competed on the singles tour, reaching world no. 215 in April 2005, but was unable to continue his singles career, in part due to injuries. Dmitri Yurievich Sitak (born 4 March 1983) is a Russian tennis player playing on the ATP Challenger Tour. Michael Kohlmann (born 11 January 1974) is a retired professional tennis player from Germany. Primarily a doubles specialist, he has won five ATP Tour doubles titles in his career. Martin Pedersen (tennis)
Martin Pedersen (born 15 June 1987) is a former professional Danish tennis player. He played predominantly on the ATP Challenger Tour, both in doubles and singles. Pedersen started playing professionally in 2005, and won his first Futures tournament in Norway in June 2007. He followed the win by reaching a final in yet another Norwegian Futures, as well as reaching the final of a Challenger tournament in Dublin in July. These achievements made him reach his career-best ranking of World No. 344 on 12 May 2008. He announced his retirement in early 2010. Frederik Nielsen
Frederik Løchte Nielsen (born 27 August 1983) is a Danish tennis coach and a former professional player. A Wimbledon men's doubles champion, he peaked at world No. 17 in the rankings in April 2013. Nielsen reached five other doubles finals on the ATP Tour, winning two more titles. Having turned professional in 2001, Nielsen began competing on the ITF circuit, winning a singles title every year between 2005 and 2010. He continued to play in ITF and ATP Challenger tournaments, garnering considerable success on the doubles circuit where he won multiple titles during the period.
