The 2009 Kazakhstan First Division was the 15th edition of Kazakhstan First Division, the second level football competition in Kazakhstan. Unlike the previous years, number of teams were shortened, due to creation of reserve teams league for Premier League teams. Thus, this season 14 teams started to play against each other on home-away system. The best team gains promotion to the Premier League next season while the runner-up will meet with the 11th placed team of the Top tier for the place in the Premier League. FC Spartak Semey ( kk, Spartak Fýtbol Klýby) is a Kazakh football club based in Semey. A leading club in the early years of the Kazakhstan Premier League, and under the name ''Yelimay Semipalatinsk'' (or simply "Yelimay") they were three-time champions of Kazakhstan in 1994, 1995 and 1998. However, they are currently in First Division. History Yelimay most recently won the Kazakh league while the Football Federation of Kazakhstan were AFC affiliates. After Kazakhstan switched to UEFA affiliation, Yelimay were relegated to the second-tier Kazakhstan First Division. 2010 Kazakhstan Premier League
The 2010 Kazakhstan Premier League was the 19th season of the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest football league competition in Kazakhstan. It started on 22 March 2010 and the regular season ended on 14 August 2010. The playoff rounds began on 22 August 2010 and ended on 6 November 2010. Aktobe are the defending champions, having won their fourth league title in five seasons and their third in a row last season. This year's competition was completed in two stages. The first stage consisted of all 12 clubs playing against each other twice, once at home and once away. After these matches were completed, the league was split into two halves for the second stage, where each club played every other club in its group twice, once at home and once away. Football Club Caspiy ( kk, Каспий Ақтау Футбол Клубы, ''Kaspıı Aqtaý Fýtbol Klýby'') is a Kazakhstani football club based at the Zhastar Stadium in Aktau. Football Club Kairat ( kk, Qaırat Fýtbol Klýby) is a professional football club based in Almaty, which plays in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest level of Kazakh football. Founded in 1954 as Lokomotiv Alma-Ata, they became Urozhay in 1955 and Kairat in 1956. The club's home ground is the Central Stadium which has a capacity of 23,804.
